12mR Baltic Championship

PRELIMINARY NOTICE OF RACE

The Organizing Authority is Royal Danish Yacht Club, KDY, together with 12mR Yacht Club, Copenhagen Station

1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of , except as changed by the sailing instructions. 1.2 The applying prescriptions of the Scandinavian Sailing Association and the Danish Sailing Association will be incorporated into the sailing instructions. 1.3 Standard rule changes occur in some of the instructions. 2 ADVERTISING Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open for all 12mR, holding valid Measurement Certificates. The 12mR fleet will sail for Baltic Championship based on the ITMA rule, all division are eligible, the Championship will awarded in all Division with at least 3 participants All 12mR will also sail for the KDY Trophy based on the Baltic Handicap system 3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form by 1. August 2016 4 FEES 4.1 Entry fees: The fee is DKK 1000 (Euro 130) per person. The fee includes a social programme including all official dinners incl beverages, breakfast and lunch packets.

The entry fee includes admission to social events for the competitors on all four evenings. 4.2 Bank details will follow prior to June 1.st 2016

Saturday Aug 20th 11.00 Earliest warning signal 1st race for the day 2 -4 races planned 19.00 Galla Dinner and Prize giving ceremony Sunday Aug 21th Special mR distance race in the waters around Skovshoved – mark inside Copenhagen Harbour.

5.1 It is planned to sail up to 10 races for the Championships, the Championsship will be awarded if at least 4 races have been finished, The race on Sunday will not be included in the

Championships Series, but will be a separate race with separate prices 5.2 After Finishing a race a new race will be started soonest possible 5.3 On the last day of the regatta no attention signal will be made after 1400 hours.

5.4 Social activities: Social activities will be included in the registration fee and will again cover events for all three evenings; detailed programs will be distributed a.s.a.p. at the latest on 1. August 2016. 6 MEASUREMENTS Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate and present it at registration. Organisers reserve the right to conduct measurement checks before, during or after any race.

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available at registration in the regatta office in the club house and at the official website. 8 VENUES

8.1 The regatta harbour will be Skovshoved Harbour, Hellerup, Copenhagen. 8.2 Courses will be sailed on the waters north of Skovshoved. 9 THE COURSE The courses of the Champiosships will be "Windward/Leeward courses" 10 SCORING a.The “Low-Point-Scoring-System” of RRS Appendix A will apply. b. Four (4) races are required to be completed to constitute a valid championship. When 4 or more races have been completed, the worst score will be excluded.

11 MOORING AND HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS 11.1 All must be moored at the designated berths in Skovshoved Harbour. Free mooring is available from 15 August to 22 August. 11.2 Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta from 08.00 Hrs. on the first racing day until the last boat finishes the last race, except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. 12 DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around the boats from 08:00 Hrs. on the first racing day until the last boat finishes the last race. 13 RADIO COMMUNICATION The race committee will use VHF Radio for communication to the fleet regarding the start and other race management issues. Apart from this a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

14 PRIZES The 12mR class will be sailing for the Øresund Trophy, this trophy has originally been donate to the Royal Danish Yacht by Alfred Benzon in 1906, the Royal Danish Yacht Club has generously made this very exiting trophy available for Wessel&Vett Cup, the trophy will be sailed based on the 12mR rule, The KDY trophy a will be awarded to the yacht winning the races based on the Baltic Fleet handicap System. The winner will be the Baltic Champion.

15 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 16 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of Euro 2.000.000 per event or the equivalent.
