The quartet by Valentin Silvestrov, Tour Details considered by Arvo Pärt to be the world’s “greatest living composer”, leads into one of Kronos’ signature works, WTC 9/11 by Steve Reich; and …hold me, neighbor, in this Saturday 9 March, 8pm storm… is one of their most recent commissions, fusing the modern string quartet with Auckland (with Wu Man) Orthodox plainchant and the instruments of the ancient Serbian poets.

  • Newsletter Early Summer 2012
Jonathan Plowright Newsletter early summer 2012 Jonathan has an action packed summer ahead with a new Hyperion recording, three international festival debuts with plenty of chamber music, and all culminating in a new CD release at the end of September. HYPERION RECORDING: ROMANTIC PIANO CONCERTO SERIES Jonathan’s third Romantic Piano Concerto CD for Hyperion Records will be recorded at the end of June in Glasgow. Featuring concertos by Polish composers Wladyslaw Zelenski and Aleksander Zarzycki Jonathan will perform with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Polish conductor Lukasz Borowitz. As the recording date approaches, Jonathan has been getting to grips with these new works - “These concertos are typical of the Romantic genre, and a joy to play, the Zelenski in particular is probably one of the finest concertos I have been fortunate enough to perform.” Jonathan has worked with Lukasz before with the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, a collaboration both enjoyed enormously.
