The Jets (9-3) improved to 7-2 in conference while NOC Tonkawa (11- 1) dropped to 6-1 in conference play. “First, I just want to say how awesome the atmosphere was last night,” said Jets coach Chris Gerber of the NOC Enid crowd. “It was fun to be a part of a game like that with that energy after this crazy year.” “Both teams battled for 40 minutes,” Gerber added. “I thought our de- fense was probably the best we defended all year. Tonkawa has offensive weapons everywhere but we trusted the game plan and executed.” Gerber was excited for his sophomores “Our sophomores were huge and led us the whole night,” he said. Okeke had 15 points in the second half including a key stretch when the Mavs took a 43-37 lead early in the second half. Okeke had an old fashioned 3-point play and then connected on two straight 3-pointers to turn the 43-37 deficit into a 43-40 lead. After NOC Tonkawa regained the lead, taking a 58-55 advantage with 2:59 left, the Jets went on a 7-4 run taking a 59-58 lead on two Okeke free throws with 1:57, a lead the Jets would not relinquish.
