 Auburn’s 63 points were the most scored against the Boilermakers in school history, eclipsing the previous record of 62 (twice). The Tigers’ 56 first-half points were the most scored in a single-half in any regular season or bowl game against Purdue, surpassing the previous mark of 42 (three times). The Tigers’ 28 points in the first and second quarters matched the most against Purdue in any quarter in bowl history and was the most the Boilermakers allowed in any quarter all season.  Auburn blitzed Purdue with a 56-7 halftime lead while rolling up 395 yards in total offense and scoring on their first seven possessions (plus an return for TD). The Tigers set bowl records for points (56), touchdowns (9) and total yards (586) by a Boilermakers opponent. It was the worst bowl defeat in Purdue history (49 points).  In the Boilers’ first-ever meeting with Auburn, Purdue’s all-time bowl record fell to 10-9, splitting its two bowl appearances in two seasons under Jeff Brohm. It was Purdue’s 14th bowl game in the past 22 years.  Senior ’s 37th career start matched that of Purdue alum , tied for third in school history. Exiting midway through the fourth period, Blough finished 22-of-37 passing for 184 yards and became just the third quarterback in school history to complete more than 300 passes in a season (305). Blough ended the season with the best completion percentage in school history (305-462, .660).  Blough finished four yards shy of joining Drew Brees (12,692) and Curtis Painter (11,511) as the only Purdue ever to amass 10,000 yards in total offense, finishing with 184 passing and 19 rushing against the Tigers. He finished his career with (9,996).  Blough’s 22-yard, third-quarter rushing was his longest carry of the season and the 13th rushing score of his career, tied with Curtis Painter with the fourth-most by any Boilermaker quarterback. It was his longest carry since 2015.  Freshman receiver Rondale Moore contributed 11 receptions for 94 to finish with 114 catches for the season, tops in the nation.  A consensus All-American, Moore totaled 167 all-purpose yards to establish a new Purdue season record – 2,215. Including 10 yards on three carries, 63 yards on three kickoff returns and zero yards on a single punt return, he broke the former record held by (2,121 in 2007). He also threw an incomplete pass in the first quarter for his first pass attempt of the season.  Moore’s 7-yard, first-quarter rushing touchdown was his 14th total touchdown of the season (12 receiving, 2 rushing), tied for eighth in school history.  Ranked in the top ten nationally in offensive chunk plays of their own, the Purdue defense surrendered long plays of 30, 33, 34, 40, 52, 66 and 74 yards.  Of Purdue’s 13 opponents in 2018, ten participated in bowl games.
