He comes to us from a similar rôle with Unilever. 1 Prior to this, Louis lived in Sweden for eight years, where he was a semi-professional footballer. Louis King, territory Announcing the appointment, joint-managing manager for South director David Carey said “This is an additional East & London territory manager appointment, bringing us up to 16 in our field teams. We believe we have the largest UK seed-dedicated field-team in the market and our team expansion is in keeping with our belief in being ‘traditional’ seedsmen, and 2 the importance of customer service and seed stand management. 4 This belief has been reflected in 6 several sales successes in recent years”. 5 Louis King is being introduced to our Kent and London stockists. In his 3 leisure time he continues his keen interest in football and gym work. The appointment of Louis has 8 increased the number of 10 sale staff that we now have 7 9 looking after our customers. Expansion is afoot in 2017; we have recently taken delivery of two new, state- of-the-art incubators, and are seeking two new members of staff - one to assist in the laboratory and one to learn the workings of our trial ground. Our team of ‘backroom’ boys and girls ensures we can continue to offer seeds gardeners can trust.

The Sandalls have visited Chernobyl in Ukraine twice yearly for the last two decades, taking with them much-needed supplies and funds raised solely by themselves; in that time they have also helped to fund a sanatorium. Mr Fothergill’s has been giving vegetable seeds to the cause for several years, with tomatoes, squashes and cucumbers being particularly popular with the families who grow them. “We are delighted to play a part in the great work Rosie and John continue to do for the people of Chernobyl, who are still in need 30 years after the dreadful incident”, said David Carey. Patience is a virtue - rewarded by Paradise!

Despite having been a professional grower for more than 50 years, Mr Fothergill’s trials manager Brian Talman still enjoys a horticultural challenge. During those years he has learned the value of patience, and nowhere more so than with his experience of reginae, also known as bird of paradise. Strelitzia reginae Brian sowed the seed of the fl amboyant South African native back in 2008, and “It has been growing in general waited for it to germinate in his greenhouse; purpose compost all that time”, the process took two years, but fi nally green explains Brian, “and it even managed shoots emerged.
