The Michigan Defense and Jake Browning Selected as Week Six Rose Bowl Game Big Ten and Pac-12 Players of the Week

PASADENA, Calif. (October 10, 2016) – Throughout the 2016 season, the Tournament of Roses and the Rose Bowl Game Football Committee will select one player from each partner conference as the Big Ten and Pac-12 Player of the Week.

For their outstanding performances in week five, the Michigan defense and Washington Jake Browning were selected by the 17-person committee.

Big Ten Player of the Week The Michigan Wolverine Defense

• First time multiple players were selected for a Player of the Week Award • Held Rutgers to 39 total yards and two first downs in a 78-0 win over the Scarlet Knights • Forced 16 punts and kept Rutgers from converting a third down attempt (0-17)

Pac-12 Player of the Week Jake Browning, Washington So., QB, Folsom, California

• Tied the Pac-12 single-game record with eight total in a 70-21 win over Oregon • Threw for 304 yards and a school-record six touchdowns, adding two more scores on the ground • Now leads the nation in passes (23) and passer rating (204.9)
