CapitaLand’s Raffles City achieves structural top-out

Singapore, 15 September 2011 – CapitaLand Limited’s wholly-owned subsidiary CapitaLand Holdings today held the topping-out ceremony for Raffles City Chengdu in Sichuan province, its first integrated development project in inland China. Designed by renowned architect Steven Holl, the flagship ‘Raffles City’ development comprises a Grade A office building, a , serviced residences, as well as luxury apartments, which will be completed in phases from 2Q2012 onwards. With a construction floor area of over 300,000 square metres, Raffles City Chengdu is CapitaLand’s biggest and most architecturally-outstanding project under the ‘Raffles City’ brand to date.

The topping-out ceremony was graced by Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office; Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister of State (MOS) for Defence and Education; and Mr Huang Xiaoxiang, Vice Governor of Sichuan. Minister Lim and MOS Wong and were in Chengdu, Sichuan province for a business mission organised by IE Singapore.

Raffles City Chengdu is located in the heart of Chengdu’s bustling city centre at the edge of First Ring Road along Renmin Nan Road. The development will be connected with an MRT interchange, and surrounded by quality offices, high-end residences, trendy high-tech retail shops, and dining and entertainment hubs for both the local and international communities.

Raffles City Chengdu has also been awarded the prestigious LEED Gold Pre- Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for its green features which include state-of-the-art energy conservation and management systems; rainwater recycling system; green roofs; as well as the use recycled building materials.

In 2010, disposable income of urban residents in Chengdu achieved sustainable growth of more than 13.3% while retail sales exceeded RMB240 billion. When completed in 2012, Raffles City Chengdu will be the third operational ‘Raffles City’ development in China, after Raffles City and Raffles City . Currently, CapitaLand has seven ‘Raffles City’ developments across China and one in Singapore. Of these, Raffles City Singapore, Raffles City Shanghai and Raffles City Beijing are in operation while those in Chengdu, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Shanghai (Changning) are presently under development.
