Itinerary Outline:

Your Rabbie’s driver-guide picks you up from your accommodation in the morning.

This is where the Scottish novelist, poet, playwright and historian famously collected everything from books to weapons to taxidermy.

You could spend the entire day at the estate, but you have more of the Scottish Borders to discover.

It’s a short drive to , Scotland’s oldest inhabited house which dates to 1107 and has been lived in by the Stuart family since 1491. Here, you have lunch in their café followed by a tour of their 18th century brewery.

After lunch, you start your journey back towards your last stop of the day at the Cross Borders Brewery in Dalkeith, launched in 2016. Here you have a chance to try their six-beer flight in their taproom.
