From California surfer to Texas student, aspiring nurse Garrett Stronks has done a “180” on career goals. His perfect wave now includes a nursing degree that he can combine with his construction skills and do some good in this world with the Peace Corps or Doctors Without Borders.

By 2015, he says, he should be breaking ground on his first clinic. “I want to build a clinic, open it up, vaccinate some kids and then go surfing.”

WC is helping him line-up for that perfect wave in his future.

“I’ve already recruited Dr. Ibe (science instructor) to volunteer for one week a year in my clinic!”
