Tytherington Takes Over Austria on the Ski Trip!!!

Tytherington Takes Over Austria!!!

During the Easter break we took 37 students from years 8 to 13 on a ski trip to Altenmarkt, Austria. Both students and staff varied greatly in terms of ability from complete beginners (like Mr Quigley!) up to advanced skiers who already have years of ski experience under their belts!

All four ski groups had a fantastic time skiing the four different ski resorts; Flachau, Wagrain, Flachauwinkl and Zauchensee which provided them with a wide range of varied runs to challenge themselves on. It was fabulous to see all of our skiers progress so rapidly throughout the week and by the end of the week all the groups were whizz- ing down red runs and 3 out of the 4 groups were skiing black runs (the most difficult) and doing tricks in the snow park as well as racing each other on slalom courses.

The evening activities were also a big hit with the students and the hotel was perfectly equipped to keep them en- tertained when they weren’t skiing with its swimming pool, basketball court, volleyball court, games rooms, TV rooms, disco and football pitch. We spent one thrilling evening on the Lucky Flitzer Alpine Rollercoaster and an evening at the Therme Amade swimming pool which included a vertical water slide as well as a quiz night and scavenger hunt in the hotel.

The week culminated in a presentation evening celebrating the successes of the students and thanking our fantas- tic ski instructors and staff. We rounded things off with a disco in the hotel!!

Josh Turnock Continues on his Quest to become the Next Rory Mcilroy!

Over the Easter break, Josh Turnock was one of eight elite young golfers selected to play for in the annual “Four Counties” team event played this year at Shifnal Golf Club in Shropshire. The tournament took place between 11th April and 13th April. The county teams taking part were Lancashire, Cheshire, Nottinghamshire and joint team from Shropshire / Herefordshire. Going into the last day Lancashire and Cheshire were tied on 8.5 points each. Lancashire eventually went on to just pip Cheshire. Lancashire eventually ended up with 12.5 to Cheshire’s 12 points. This was one of the closest results in many years. Joshua made a huge contribution to the overall points tally with a win, draw and one loss in his indi- vidual matches. Josh recently represented the North West of Under 18s a match played at Fairhaven Golf Club. The North West played a combined Shropshire and Herefordshire team. Josh played exceptionally well scoring one of the highest tallies in the match. Well done! Josh has been selected to play in a World Ranking Amateur Event at Fairhaven next month. The Fairhaven Tro
