CATALOGUE 2021 HEPCO&BECKER - from Motorcyclists - for Motorcyclists! CATALOGUE 2021 HEPCO&BECKER - from motorcyclists - for motorcyclists! Yesterday. Today. And in the future. We are currently experiencing some very unusual times. Nothing is as it used to be, and as we know and love it. And who knows what the future has in store for us! In this era of uncertainty, it’s a good and precious thing to have some fixed points of reference: memories and experiences, friendships and shared experiences. Riding your motorbike is certainly one of them! Luckily, we are still able to enjoy our freedom on our bikes. Whether braking into or accelerating out of a bend, or the low rumble of the engine; all this creates positive emotions that are good for the soul. And let’s not forget the experience of being in natural surroundings: We can enjoy the many different smells and fragrances of nature, the freshness of the morning and the warmth of the sun when it shines while we’re out on the bike. This is something to be thankful for too. We at HEPCO&BECKER are reliable partners when it comes to enjoying your hobby with our products over many ©Sylvie Felgueiras decades and of course in the future. Warm regards, You support us in so many ways: as our customer, critic and advisor! We would like to thank you in particular for your Paul Ehrhardt, Paul J. Ehrhardt Shareholder – Managing Directors reports and the generally positive feedback on your experiences with our products, because this also helps us to keep improving our offer. Good, individual advice and proximity to our customers have always been very important to us, and we will be presenting our products in this catalogue format again in 2021. Here’s some more good news: We have made some improvements and modifications to our existing products. Take your time to browse and to be amazed! We would like to highlight one change in particular: We have decided not to include the new 2021 motorcycles in the list of models, as this has led to numerous corrections and misunderstandings in the past. Once the new accessories have been developed, we will promptly publish them on our website www.hepco-becker.de along with the delivery times and prices. So you’re always up to date with the latest news. vielfach prämiert You can of course email or telephone us at any time. We look forward to hearing from you, and will be happy to multiple answer any questions you may have. We hope you stay well (and loyal to us too)! award-winning Cooperative partnerships: Paaschburg& Wunderlich TABLE OF CONTENTS • LUGGAGE ALUMINUM SIDE AND TOP CASES from page 14 XCEED 14 14 18 18 XPLORER 22 24 26 26 ALU STANDARD 32 PLASTIC SIDE AND TOP CASES from page 40 GOBI 40 42 JOURNEY 46 50 JUNIOR/JUNIOR FLASH 52 JUNIOR TC40 57 TC55 58 PLASTIC TOP CASES from page 63 JOURNEY TC30 63 TC40 64 TC50 66 TC52 68 ORBIT TC54 69 3 TABLE OF CONTENTS • LUGGAGE C-BOW LUGGAGE from page 72 ORBIT 72 STRAYKER 74 XTRAVEL 76 79 ROYSTER 80 STREET 82 LEGACY 84 REAR BAGS from page 93 ROYSTER 88 90 XTRAVEL 86 STREET 91 SPORT STAR 93 LEGACY 94 TRAVEL 95 95 TANK BAGS from page 98 TANK GUARD BAG page 92 ROYSTER SERIE 98/99 STREET SERIE 100 102 103 LEGACY 105 V1 92 4 TABLE OF CONTENTS • LUGGAGE TABLE OF CONTENTS • LUGGAGE LEATHER BAGS from page 109 LEGACY 110 RUGGED 112 BUFFALO / BUFFALO CUSTOM 114 IVORY 117 LIBERTY 118 NEVADA 120 LEATHER REAR BAGS - Smallbags/Handbags from page 123 BUFFALO / BUFFALO CUSTOM 126 LIBERTY 124 125 RUGGED 124 LEGACY 123 TANK GUARD BAG page 92 TOOL BAGS from page 121 BUFFALO / LIBERTY 121 LEGACY 122 122 5 TABLE OF CONTENTS • CARRIER CARRIER SYSTEMS FOR SIDE CASES AND SIDE BAGS LEATHER BAG HOLDER LOCK IT SIDE CARRIER SIDE/COMPLETE CARRIER C-BOW HOLDER BLACK C-BOW HOLDER CHROME LEATHER BAG HOLDER TUBE TYPE 132 133 140 141 142 CARRIER SYSTEMS FOR TOP CASES CUTOUT HOLDER EASYRACK ALURACK REAR RACKS TUBE TYPE 136 UNIVERSAL PARTS RUGGED CUTOUT 134 135 146 143 CARRIER SYSTEMS FOR SOFT BAGS MINIRACK ENLARGEMENT 139 SPORTRACK SISSYBAR SOLORACK 138 147 150 151 6 TABLE OF CONTENTS • PROTECTION / ACCESSORIES LEATHER BAG HOLDER PROTECTION BARS ENGINE AND TANK GUARDS ENGINE GUARDS CHROME ENGINE GUARDS STAINLESS STEEL RAILING/PILLION HANDLE BAR REAR/FRONT GUARDS 152 157 158 160 161 PROTECTION ACCESSORIES HANDLE GUARDS HEADLIGHT GRILLES SKID PLATES CENTER STANDS SIDE STAND ENLARGEMENTS 162 163 164 166 167 ACCESSORIES TANKRINGS BIKE MODELS LED FLOOTER FENDER GUARD TWINLIGHTS LOCK IT TANKRING BIKE MODELS 170 168 169 144 171 7 THE COMPANY Paul Ehrhardt Paul J. Ehrhardt Nils Arnold Mathias Dzemski Picture taken in 1978 - far left: Paul Ehrhardt, then Managing Director Hepco&Becker, a name that guarantees quality and stands for service for motorcycles. The one-man operation was founded in 1973 by engineer Franz Becker, who was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident in 1975. The business was continued and developed into a medium-sized company by young student Paul Ehrhardt. Its production in the early days involved essential metal parts. 1984 marked the takeover of hard-shell case production by Hepting & Co. from Stuttgart Feuerbach and the foundation of Hepco&Becker GmbH as the continuation of Franz Becker GmbH. Hepting was once one of the largest suitcase manufacturers with more than one thousand employees in Germany. In the seventies and the beginning of the eighties, Hepting manufactured thousands of motorcycle cases for BMW and Krauser. Thanks to in-house case production, Hepco&Becker successfully provided new, attractive products and assumed a leading role on the market. Whilst a number of com- petitors have disappeared, Hepco&Becker has managed to remain successful to this day. The rhino became a key concept for the Hepco&Becker brand. It represents independence and robustness, power and durability, just like every item that comes out of the Hepco&Becker establishment. The rhino has high loyalty values for many motorcyclists as it is not so easy to dissuade thanks to a certain stubbornness. Sustainability and reliability are, to this day, values which shape and define day-to-day business at Hepco&Becker. 8 THE COMPANY Franz Becker develops oil chain cases. Course Equipment and Food Restoration Ecology in Greater Yellowstone The following equipment and food-planning lists are intended to help you pack for your upcoming course. It is important that you bring needed clothing, gear & food, yet do not bring too much, as space in your backpack and the trailer will be limited. WRFI supports sharp shopping and saving money. We do not expect you to spend any more than necessary. For example, a $.50 thrift store food bowl works just a good as a $50 titanium one. Some of your gear may be purchased at discount or used, but it all should be high quality. Much of this equipment can last you a lifetime of outdoor adventure. If unsure about which item to buy consider what will be most useful to you after the course, and consult with WRFI staff. Where to shop? Buying from local shops often provides the best service and supports your community. Some larger chain stores have greater selection and excellent return policies. Craigslist gives you access to a world of cheap used gear - but don’t let a good deal lead you into buying something that is worn out or does not fit well! Please bring a copy of this document with you as you pack or shop for gear. It is essential to your safety and comfort that you are well-equipped and supplied. Call or email your instructors or the WRFI office if you have any questions! Individual equipment supplied by WRFI WRFI travel mug Stuff sacks for dinner food Plastic bags for lining packs and stuff sacks Plastic bins (28”L x 19”W x 16”H) to store extra student food and equipment in the trailer Clean WRFI t-shirt at course end! • Design and Experimental Validation of a Carbon Fibre Swingarm Test Rig
DESIGN AND EXPERIMENTAL VALIDATION OF A CARBON FIBRE SWINGARM TEST RIG Reno Kocheappen Chacko A research report submitted to the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, of the University of the Witwatersrand, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Engineering March 2013 Declaration I declare that this research report is my own unaided work. It is being submitted to the Degree of Master of Science to the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. It has not been submitted before for any degree or examination to any other University. …………………………………………………………………………… (Signature of Candidate) ……….. day of …………….., …………… i Abstract The swingarm of a motorcycle is an important component of its suspension. In order to test the durability of swingarms, a dedicated test rig was designed and realized. The test rig was designed to load the swingarm in the same way the swingarm is loaded on the test track. The research report structure is as follows: relevant literature related to automotive component testing, current swingarm test rig models and composite swingarms were outlined. The Leyni bench, a rig specifically developed by Ducati to test swingarm reliability was shown to be effective but lacked the ability to apply variable loads. The objective of this research was to design and experimentally validate a swingarm test rig to evaluate swingarm performance at different loads. The methodology, the components of the test rig and the instrumentation required to achieve the objectives of the research were presented. The elastic modulus of the carbon fibre swingarm material was calculated using classical laminate theory. The strains and stresses within a swingarm during testing were analysed.
