Present: HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following regulations.
REGULATIONS 1. Title and commencement-(l) These regulations may be cited as the Southland Inland Harbours Regulations 1970. (2) These regulations shall come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.
2. Harbours declared-(1) The waters specified in the second column of the Schedule to these regulations are hereby declared to be harbours for the purposes of the Harbours Act 1950, and are hereby defined as the limits of the harbours specified in the first column of that Schedule. (2) Those harbours shall have the names assigned thereto in that Schedule.
3. Navigation in Lower Waiau River-(I) No person shall navigate any vessel on the Lower Waiau River between its confluence with the Mararoa River and the Mararoa Weir approximately half a mile downstream. (2) Every person who commits a breach of subclause (1) of this regulation commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $100. 1970/97 Southland Inland Harbours Regulations 1970 627

DESCRIPTION OF HARBOURS
Name of Harbour Limits Defined
Lake Manapouri The waters of Lake Manapouri; all rivers and streams flowing into Lake Manapouri; the Lower Waiau River from the lake to the Mararoa Weir situated at a point approximately half a mile below its con fluence with the Mararoa River; the Mararoa and Whitestone Rivers from their source, including their lakes and tribu taries. Lake Te Anau The waters of Lake Te Anau; all rivers and streams flowing into Lake Te Anau; the Upper Waiau River.

EXPLANATORY NOTE This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect. These regulations define the limits of Lake Manapouri Harbour and Lake Te Anau Harbour, and prohibit navigation on part of the Lower Waiau River.
