The French club now lead the standings on seven points, one more than Milan, four above third-placed Sparta, and six ahead of Celtic. Previous meetings • LOSC also got the better of Milan the one previous time the clubs were paired together in European competition, drawing 0-0 at home and winning 2-0 away in the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League group stage, but while both clubs went through to the knockout phase it was the Italian side who went on to win the competition, beating Liverpool 2-1 in the final. • LOSC have a positive overall balance against Italian clubs in UEFA competition of W6 D1 L4, but they have won only two of the five home games (D1 L2), most recently losing 0-1 to Milan's city rivals Internazionale in the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League group stage. • Milan's away record against French clubs is W4 D3 L4 with victories on each of their last two visits, the most recent a 2-0 success at Auxerre in the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League group stage, Zlatan Ibrahimović scoring the opening goal. • The Rossoneri's most famous encounter with French opposition outside Italy was the inaugural UEFA Champions League final of 1992/93, which they lost 1-0 to Marseille in Munich. Form guide LOSC • LOSC are back in the UEFA Europa League group stage for the fourth time thanks to the fourth place they occupied when last season's Ligue 1 campaign ended in March. Christophe Galtier's side also competed in the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League, finishing bottom of a group containing Chelsea, Valencia and Ajax. • The club from northern France last participated in the UEFA Europa League group stage in 2014/15, when they failed to win a game (D4 L2). Their other two group campaigns, in 2009/10 and 2010/11, were more successful as they reached the knockout phase on both occasions. • Les Dogues are without a win in 13 European home matches (D6 L7) and have registered just eight goals over that stretch, two of them in the 2-2 draw against Celtic on Matchday 2. Although their all-time home record in the UEFA Europa League proper is W6 D5 L2, the last of those victories dates back almost a decade to Matchday 6 of their domestic double-winning 2010/11 season, when they beat Gent 3-0. Milan • A sixth-placed finish in Serie A last term earned Milan a return to Europe after a one-season absence. Stefano Pioli's side beat Shamrock Rovers (2-0 a) and runaway Norwegian league leaders Bodø/Glimt (3-2 h) in their first two qualifying matches before dramatically capturing a place in the UEFA Europa League group stage by ousting Rio Ave 9-8 in a marathon penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 draw in Portugal.

  • Ligue 1 Guide 2021/22
2021/2022 Ligue 1 Preview Guide INTRODUCTION After a historically close title race that saw four teams in the running Ligue 1 is back with no small amount of fanfare following a busy summer. Of those four sides, while Lille and Lyon have been relatively quiet as they try to consolidate under new managers, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain have been eager participants in the mercato, buying well in a way that addresses the two sides’ needs. Nice and Rennes have also done some canny business in the offseason, to say nothing of Marseille’s flood of arrivals, but the discussions about pro- spective title favorites in France have to start and end with the capital side. Even as rumors swirl around the potential departure of Kylian Mbappé, it’s hard to argue that Paris Saint-Ger- main haven’t done their utmost to convince their young star to stay. At least, that is, if one judges by their transfer activity. The arrivals of Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Achraf Hakimi have bolstered Mauricio Pochettino’s side in key areas whilst also adding another layer of dynamism. If he can keep his squad happy and balanced, this team looks as potent as any in Europe, Elsewhere, Monaco are probably best-equipped to challenge, even as they will have to contend with playing European football. The arrivals of Myron Boadu, Alexander Nübel and Ismail Jakobs look to be upgrades, and so long as Niko Kovac’s exciting, front-foot football remains in place and so do all of its key elements.

  • The Gffn 100 2018: Ten to Watch
GFFN 100 2018 THE GFFN 100: AN INTRODUCTION Welcome to another edition of the Get French Football News 100. Published at the end of ev- ery year by GFFN, the guide you are reading is as detailed and comprehensive a set of player profiles as one is likely to find, especially in English. Some of these players are well-known, even to the casual fan, and though they have been the subjects of countless profiles, we hope that you can gain a bit more depth in knowledge of their stories. This is especially true with the likes of Neymar and his Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Kylian Mbappé. In 2018, neither was ever far from the limelight in a year in which France won the World Cup, thanks in large part to the teen- age sensation. Neymar may have garnered the odd headline for less positive reasons, but both remain as compelling off the pitch as they do on it.
