His name isn't important. His story is. When he joined Ananda Yaan some seven months back, he had difficulty walking and could barely see with one eye. A couple of weeks back he went to one of our Rotaryannes and told her that after the yoga sessions, he can actually see a bit with that eye, and he feels like dancing to the music that is played there. He attended a music show at Chembur where a couple of donors had chipped in to buy 50 tickets, hire a bus and provided dinner to our elders. I am absolutely certain that there would no way to explain all this in a medical way. But guess what. There's no need to do it. Happiness is a wonderful thing. hould it not be assumed that a speaker, given It makes you feel alive again. It's made our elderly gent feel alive again. And that's what's important. CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 10th JULY 2020 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor.. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will be sent by the cheapest rate commensurate with the value and size of the item.

Vol. 59 No. 41 • April 17, 2018 • Pages 8 President’s Pick Dear friends, Staying in Tune It isn't often that the Rotary International President Elect comes visiting. And it isn't often that our Club's member is felicitated by the Rotary International president Elect, and that too right here in sunny Mumbai. And so April 6th. was a special day for us. A day when our Trustee and Past President Arvind Jolly was felicitated by Barry Rassin (President Elect R.I.) on his becoming an Arch Klumph Member. For those who came in late, this is a distinction conferred on a member who has contributed at least USD 2,50,000/- to the movement, and is named after the sixth President of Rotary International. Congratulations to Arvind. He truly is such a fine gentleman and jolly good person (sorry I couldn't resist that pun). And now let's read what he himself had to say about his special day. Regards, Ramesh Narayan "The experience was most enjoyable and certainly Rashmi and I would have very fond memories of this event for years to come. Dissertation Presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of the University of Texas at Austin in Partial Fulfillment for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy The University of Texas at Austin May 2005 To Harold Ashenfelter and Amul Desai Preface A crowded, red double-decker bus pulls into the depot and comes to a rest amidst swirling dust and smoke. Its passengers slowly alight and begin to disperse into the muggy evening air. I step down from the bus and look left and right, trying to get my bearings. This is only my second day in Bombay and my first to venture out of the old city center and into the Northern suburbs. I approach a small circle of bus drivers and ticket takers, all clad in loose-fitting brown shirts and pants. They point me in the direction of my destination, the JVPD grounds, and I join the ranks of people marching west along a dusty, narrowing road. Before long, we are met by a colorful procession of drummers and dancers honoring the goddess Durga through thundering music and vigorous dance. The procession is met with little more than a few indifferent glances by tired workers walking home after a long day and grueling commute.

Vividh Bharati’s 5932/011116 vIvIdh BhaRatI's Role IN 'UNIfyINg' the INdIaN NatIoN Jawhar Sircar RKMIC, 29th January 2014 I. FREEDOM AT MIDNIGHT: 1. When we look back at the last six or seven decades, we see with amazement how India has emerged from a country that was tormented by internal convulsions and external threats to be now ranked among the top countries of the world. The entire picture has changed so dramatically, especially in the last two decades since we opened up our economy that India is now growing rapidly enough to be noticed. Though it has finally been afflicted by the world-wide economic contagion and is passing through a rather low, the world takes note: which it did not, earlier. The 21st century belongs to Asia and it is beyond doubt that China and India would be playing a major role, notwithstanding temporary hiccups along the way. 2. The question is how did this India, that is now proud of her high seat in the assembly of nations of the world, emerge as a cohesive nation that is finally solidly bonded. Let us take ourselves back to the stroke of the midnight hour, on the night of 14th/15th August 1947, when this nation was born: a memorable period that happens but once in a nation’s life-time. It was the most challenging of times, as not only was it a bleeding baby that had been severed from its sibling, but it was in the midst of violence, confusion and rioting. One was reminded of Churchill’s scathing remarks that "in a few years, no trace will remain" for "anarchy will lead to internecine warfare".

A lot of students face problems in the General Awareness / Business Awareness / General Knowledge section of MBA entrance exams like XAT, IIFT, and SNAP. That happens because they start "preparing" for it once they are done with their Quant, LR/DI and Verbal prep (sometimes even after CAT) - which is often too late. Ideally, no one should have to prepare for something like General Awareness. But sadly, we don't live in an ideal world. And even those, who try to prepare with the help of websites, news services, etc. suffer from too much information. They cannot filter the relevant information and often give up on GK all-together. It should not be that way. Even if you can devote just 3 hours a week to GK from now on, you will be very well placed when the time comes. It doesn't take much because you don't need a high score to clear the cutoff. The problem is most students are so blissfully unaware about what is going on in the world and clearing the cutoff is not that big a deal. Just do an experiment, next time you are in a group of students preparing for Management Entrance exams, ask them - "Who is the Vice President of India?" You will get what I am talking about. As a first step, you need to know what actually gets asked in the exam and you can find that in the PDF. You will find 6 past year GK papers (with answers) in this PDF. Version : 6.1 They are: IIFT 2012 IIFT 2013 IIFT 2014 IIFT 2015 IIFT 2016 IIFT 2017 And for more, you can have a look at my GK course available here: https://handakafunda.com/gk-general-knowledge-xat-iift-snap If you have any more questions about the course, please send me an email on [email protected] or call me on 09765142632.
