1 2018-19 University of Nevada Men’s Basketball NOTES u The 2017-18 Nevada team was the second in Nevada history to reach the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. u The Wolf Pack railed from 14 down vs. Texas and 22 down vs. Cincinnati to reach the Sweet 16. The 22 point rally was the second largest comeback in NCAA Tournament history. u The Pack went 29-8 last season. The 29 wins is tied for the most school history. u Nevada became just the second Mountain West school to capture back-to-back outright regular season conference titles. No school has won three consecu- tive outright titles. u Nevada returns four starters in seniors Caleb Martin, Cody Martin, Jordan Caroline and Lindsey Drew. Drew is recovering from an achilles tear that forced him to miss the final 10 games last season. u The Pack returns its top three scorers in Caleb Martin (18.9 ppg), Caroline (17.7 ppg) and Cody Martin (14 ppg). The trio scored 60 (1840-of-3055) percent of the team’s points last season. If you include Lindsey Drew who was fifth on the team at 8.1 points per the squad returns 67 percent of the offense from last year. u Caleb Martin was the MW Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year while twin brother Cody Martin was the MW Defensive Player of the Year. u Caleb Martin and Caroline were first-team All-MW selections while Cody Martin earned second team honors. Drew and Cody Martin were named to the MW Defensive team. u Additional honors for Cody Martin include USBWA District VIII Player of the Year, AP honorable mention All-American, Lute Olson All-American, USBWA Dis- trict VIII team, and NABC District 17 first team. u Caroline was named to the MW All-Tournament team, USBWA District VIII team, and NABC District 17 first team. u Freshman Jordan Brown is the first five star recruit in Nevada history. u The Pack have appeared in numerous preseson top 10 polls for the 2018-2019. Some polls have the Pack ranked as high as five. u Fourth-year coach Eric Musselman has won 24, 28 and 29 games in his first three years. He joins Mark Fox as the only Wolf Pack coaches to win 20 or more games three consecutive seasons. u Musselman earned Mountain West, USBWA District VIII and NABC District 17 Coach of the Year honors after leading the Pack to 29 wins last season. u Jordan Caroline (1,483 points) and Caleb Martin (1,231 points) have both scored over 1,000 career points in their collegiate careers. u The 2017-18 squad set the school record with 12 road wins and 15 wins in Mountain West play. u Four scholarship transfers who sat out last season will join the team in Tre’Shawn Thurman (13.8 ppg, 7.8 rpg), Corey Henson (14.6 ppg), Nisré Zouzoua (20.3 ppg), and Jazz Johnson (15.8 ppg). The quartet all averaged 13 or more points at their previous schools. Joining them is graduate transfer Trey Porter who aver- aged 13.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks at Old Dominion and is immediately eligible to play. u Vincent Lee (6-7) and K.J. Hymes (6-11) are two scholarship freshmen that add size and depth to the frontcourt. u Nevada has won 20 or more games in 11 of the last 15 seasons. u In eight weeks the Pack appeared in the top 25 last season including the last six weeks of the season and ended the year at No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. u The Wolf Pack is 43-5 at Lawlor Events Center under head coach Eric Musselman, 32-2 in its last 34 home games and 36-3 in its last 39. Overall Musselman is 37-14 in MW play, 22-5 at home and 15-9 on the road. u Nevada is 42-13 under Musselman in non-conference play and 21-0 at home in non-conference games. He is 21-13 away from Reno in non-conference games, 13-6 in neutral games. u The Pack must find a replacement for third-team All-MW selection Kendall Stephens who set the MW and school record with 126 made 3-pointers. His 73 made 3-pointers in conference play also established new MW and school marks. u Nevada will play neutral site games vs. Arizona State on Dec. 7 in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Nevada will face Grand Canyon in the first-ever Jerry Colangelo Classic at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix on Dec. 9. u The Wolf Pack will play three Pac-12 opponents this season Arizona State in a neutral site games, at USC and at Utah. u Eight of Nevada’s non-conference opponents had an RPI in the top 100 last season with Loyola Chicago (14), USC (37), Utah (40) and South Dakota State (48) in the top 50. Six teams earned postseaon bids with Loyola Chicago, ASU, and South Dakota State competing in the NCAA Tournament. Utah, BYU, and USC were in the NIT with the Utes falling in the title game. The Rambers won 32 games on the way to the Final Four. u The Pack travels to Loyola Chicago on Nov. 27 for a rematch of the Sweet 16 game won by the Ramblers 69-68 in Atlanta last season. The rematch is part of the 2018 Challenge Series that matches teams from the Mountain West and Missouri Valley Conference.
