Catalogue of Available Licences to Hunt Wild Game on Coillte Lands Secondary tender competition - 2020 The closing date for receipt of tender bids is 5pm Friday 21st August 2020 Contents :- 1. Introduction 2. Tendering Instructions and Notes 3. Terms and Conditions of Tender Competition 4. Local Coillte Administrators - Contact Details 5. Listing of Available Licensed Areas 1. Introduction The hunting of game, deer and other quarry species are amongst the oldest form of forest recreation which continue to be legally enjoyed by many people across the country. Respecting the traditional nature of this activity and recognising the social, environmental and economic benefits’ which hunting can contribute, Coillte may permit certain types of hunting on their estate where it is deemed both compatible with forest management objectives, and where it is not considered to either compromise the safety of other forest users or negatively impact populations of quarry species. This, Coillte consider is in line with both the Companies Recreation Policy and Deer Management Policy, as well as supporting the principles of multiple-use forestry. All such hunting is managed and regulated through the issue of licences. The allocation of licences to hunt and shoot deer, game (and other quarry species) is undertaken by means of open public tender. Tender bids are invited for licensed areas as they become available, these bids are evaluated based on a Points Scoring System (available on the Coillte website) whereby cognisance is made of the annual fee offered, the applicants previous experience, their commitment to safety as well as environmental and other local interest considerations.

  • Rates and Valuation
Cavan County Council Rates Archives service Cavan County Council Rates Until recent times, the main income of local authorities was derived from rates charged on property. Before the introduction of the Local Government (Ireland) Act, 1898, the principal local taxes were the county cess (collected by the Grand Jury), the poor rate (collected by the Boards of Guardians) and various rates paid in towns including water and improvement rates. After the 1898 Act, the rates were amalgamated into the poor rate for the county. In municipal areas there were additional rates made for particular which were consolidated into one municipal rate during the period 1930-46. County councils, county boroughs and borough corporations and urban district councils are rating authorities, but since 1946 town commissioners are not. The main archives created by the rating activities of local authorities are rate books. These volumes record the names and addresses of ratepayers and the amounts paid. They are arranged by electoral division and townland. The amount due in rates is based on the valuation of the property as set out in the valuation list. The rate books were written annually with the amounts due by each ratepayer and were open for public inspection for a period.
