Nebraska Post-Game Notes Nebraska vs. South Dakota State, Sept. 21, 2013 Today’s victory improved Nebraska to 3-1, marking the 32nd straight season the Huskers have posted a winning non-conference record. Nebraska improved to 3-0 all-time against South Dakota State and 10-0 against FCS opponents since 1992. 4Nebraska scored 59 points, marking the eighth time time under Bo Pelini Nebraska has scored more than 50 points, including twice this season (56 vs. Southern Miss). The 59 points today are the second-most by Nebraska under Pelini, trailing only 73 points last season against Idaho State. 4Nebraska posted a season-high 645 total yards, including 401 yards in the first half. The 645 yards are the most under Head Coach Bo Pelini and the most by Nebraska since Huskers totaled 632 vs. Southern Miss in 2012. It is the most yards by the Husker offense since they combined 702 yards vs. Kansas State in 2007. 4Today marked the first time in school history that the Huskers have totaled more than 300 yards rushing and 300 yards passing in the same game. 4Nebraska racked up 34 first downs in today’s game, marking the most for a Nebraska team under Pelini, bettering the 33 first downs against Southern Miss in 2012. 4Nebraska rushed for 335 yards, marking the 15th time in 18 games since the start of the 2012 season that NU has rushed for at least 200 yards. Nebraska posted its 14th 300-yard rushing game in Bo Pelini’s six seasons, including its second this year (375 vs. Wyoming). 4Redshirt freshman Tommy Armstrong made his first career start in today’s game. Armstrong completed 12-of-15 passes for 169 yards and one . Armstrong had not attempted a pass in his career before today’s game. Armstrong also rushed five times for 38 yards. Armstrong guided Nebraska to on each of the first three drives he led, including a 66-yard TD drive on just four plays to open the game. 4Senior quarterback Ron Kellogg III completed 8-of-9 passes for 136 yards and one touchdown. Kellogg entered today’s game 8-of-16 for 46 career passing yards. Kellogg guided NU to scores on 3-of-4 first-half drives. 4Junior I-back Ameer Abdullah rushed 15 times for a season-high 139 yards, including a one-yard TD run in the second quarter. Abdullah had just one carry after halftime. Today’s game marked Abdullah’s third 100-yard rushing game of the season and the ninth of his career. Abdullah also caught three passes for 46 yards to account for 185 all-purpose yards. With his 139 rushing yards today, Abdullah increased his career rushing total to 1,752 yards. He moved up two spots to 31st on the NU career rushing list in today’s game, passing Leodis Flowers and Andra Franklin. 4Junior receiver Kenny Bell caught two passes for 20 yards in today’s game. The two receptions pushed Bell’s career receptions total to 100, making him the seventh Husker with 100 career receptions. Bell’s 20 receiving yards boosted his career total to 1,514 receiving yards, making him the sixth Nebraska player with more than 1,500 career receiving yards. 4Senior receiver Quincy Enunwa caught six passes for 78 yards. His six receptions tied his career high, also against Southern Miss and Northwestern in 2012. With his six receptions, Enunwa increased his career receptions total to 81 moving him within one reception of the top 10 on the NU career receptions list. Enunwa’s 78 yards give him 975 career receiving yards, putting him within 25 yards of becoming the 22nd NU player with 1,000 career receiving yards. Enunwa has caught at least one pass in 18 straight games. 4Sophomore I-back Imani Cross scored two touchdowns in today’s game, marking the second time this season and fourth time in his career Cross has scored two rushing touchdowns. He also ran for two touchdowns earlier this year against Wyoming. Cross finished the day with 60 yards on 10 carries. 4Cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste intercepted a second-quarter pass to set up a Nebraska touchdown. This marked his fourth straight game with an . Jean-Baptiste is the first Nebraska player to intercept a pass in four straight games since had a pick in four straight games in 2003 (Southern Miss, Troy State, Missouri, Texas A&M). Jean-Baptiste has six in the past 11 games, dating back to last season. 4Jean-Baptiste returned the interception 15 yards, giving him 140 interception return yards this season. The school record for most interception yards in a season is 187 yards by Daniel Bullocks in 2004. 4Junior defensive end Randy Gregory intercepted a third-quarter pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown. The interception was the first of Gregory’s career and the first by a Nebraska defensive lineman since Terrence Moore at Michigan in 2011. Gregory’s interception for a touchdown was the first by a Nebraska defensive lineman since Ndamukong Suh had an INT for a touchdown against Colorado in 2008. 4Gregory’s interception for a touchdown was Nebraska’s third as a team this season, with Jean-Baptiste and Ciante Evans returning interceptions for touchdowns against Southern Miss. 4Nebraska has intercepted nine passes through four games this season, after having 13 picks in 14 games in 2012. Overall, Nebraska has forced 10 turnovers this season and turned those 10 turnovers into 49 points. 4Nebraska totaled five sacks for 44 yards on the afternoon. The five sacks are the most for Nebraska since recording seven (35 yards) against Idaho State last season. It marked NU’s second straight week with at least three sacks. 4Senior quarterback Taylor Martinez missed today’s game with an injury, ending a streak of 32 consecutive starts for Martinez since not starting against Colorado in November of 2010.
