The Academic and Information Technology (AIT) Manager manages and coordinates all academic technology and information technology operations on the Valencia Campus of Berklee College of Music and provides computer hardware and software support to its students, faculty, staff and facilities, supervising the Campus Services Coordinator and Lab Supervisor, and working under the direction of the Director of Academic Technology.

Duties and Responsibilities: • Manage IT and Lab Technology team (Campus Services Coordinator, Lab Supervisor, Graduate Assistants) • Supervise network and telecommunications infrastructure and support, in close coordination with the Berklee team • Coordinate network, software and hardware maintenance with external service providers and vendors • Provide computer hardware and software support to faculty and staff • Provide computer hardware and software maintenance and support in all Valencia campus facilities, including the technology labs, recording studios, classrooms, offices, and library, ensuring proper functionality • Develop and maintain the campus intranet system in conjunction with 3rd party developer to expand functionality as needed • Work closely with the Chief Engineer to provide technical support in the recording facilities and to implement changes to facilities, particularly between semesters (installing/configuring new software and updating the hardware/software environment, ensuring that facilities are prepared for each semester’s start) • Work closely with the Production Manager to coordinate and provide IT support for special events both on and off campus • Keep detailed records of all computer hardware and software information • Coordinate the Laptop and Software Bundle program for incoming Masters Students including research, negotiations with vendors, and management of Software Bundle Workshops • Make purchasing suggestions based on industry expertise and experience • Teach a course, as needed and/or appropriate to skills of the candidate

Knowledge and Skills Required: • Minimum of 5 years experience working in computer technology and expertise with the Macintosh operating system • Knowledge of up-to-date IT services, principles, and practices • Strong familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Digital Performer) and relevant hardware

• Strong familiarity with music notation software, sample libraries, MIDI and relevant hardware • Knowledge of video game audio technology, video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects) and MAX/MSP • Connections to and relationships within the Music Instrument industry (especially software and technology) • Knowledge of the telecommunication systems as well as contacts in IT suppliers in • Minimum of 3 years management experience: o Managing people o Managing subcontracted services o Managing budgets • Purchasing and negotiation skills. 3 years minimum experience in purchasing IT equipment and services • Must work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a group • Strong organizational and time management skills • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate and relevant discipline, Masters degree preferred • Fluent English and Spanish skills required (C1 or higher for both languages)
