David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation

We love wildlife and want to create a haven for wild birds, bees, insects, wildlife and plants. We plant bee friendly plants and plant native plants. We have established native trees and hedges which provide food, shelter and homes for wildlife. We have also planted new trees this season and last season. Our Bee area by the Beech toilet block is there to provide bees with a home. Bees are essential for the pollination of plants. There is an owl box in a tree in the Highland Field and if you spot it being used by an owl please let us know! There is certainly an owl in the area as the ‘toots’ can be heard at night. Wild rabbits are also in abundance here at Fron Farm. They nibble on the grass. Bird boxes are found in various locations. Pollinator friendly plants are planted around reception. There is also a Bee Hotel here. We have lots of hedgerows here at Fron Farm. Hedgerows provide a home for nature and act as corridors for wildlife to move about. They are even used by bats who view them from the air as a guide to their destinations. Bat Boxes are located in a tree by the Holiday Home Park, above the livestock paddock. We have also planted purple beech hedging on the holiday home park to add native colour.
