ripple Creek, Colorado is the site where more gold has been mined than in Alaska, CCalifornia, and Nevada combined! This little 10,000 foot high community time had forgotten has had a renaissance in recent years … gaming has been legalized and that influx of money has made all the difference! Like Deadwood, the town is struggling to maintain ties with its history, while creating a thoroughly clean, modern community. Money from the gaming community has been used to create a new Heritage Center overlooking Cripple Creek and offering a magnificent view of the Sangre de Cristo mountain chain. In May, this Heritage Center was the location of a River Crossing Victorian Fashion Show sponsored by the Gold Camp Victorian Society. Miss Tabitha provided 10 models who showed their finest for most of the afternoon. Amazingly, the audience of 100+ was also dressed “Victorian,” and many looked every bit as good as the models! That evening Mad Mountain Mike and Miss Tabitha hosted a Buckskin Ball in the local Elks Lodge in down- town Cripple Creek. Mike made every effort to keep the proceedings informal and fun … once again, this lively evening played to a sold-out crowd! The Cowboy Chronicle has often emphasized there is far more to SASS and Cowboy Action Shooting™ than sim- ply going to matches and pulling the trigger. If you ever have the opportunity to attend any of these “extra-curric- ular” cowboy activities … don’t pass it up! These outings are fun, entertaining, and often educational!
