Wentworth season 4 trailer blows through 1 million views in 24 hours

Foxtel viewers made their pent up love of gritty prison drama Wentworth known this week following the surprise airing of a teaser trailer for the upcoming season 4 premiere. The trailer attracted more than 1 million views in just 24 hours making it one of ’s most- watched TV promos ever.

With an enormous fan-base, Wentworth’s dedicated viewers have been getting increasingly excited to catch up on the drama at Wentworth Correctional Centre following the fiery season three finale, and this week’s teaser started an even bigger fire under that enthusiasm.

Foxtel’s social media channels lit up following the airing of the teaser with fans voicing their anticipation:

“Can't wait!!! I was havng withdrawals so I rewatched seasons 1 2 and 3 but now we have a date that it's coming back on. I'm so excited! Can't wait to find out what happens.”

Season 4 resumes four months after the events seen in the season 3 finale. The women of H block are returning to Wentworth Correctional Centre to find a new dynamic is in play which will have immediate ramifications for Bea () as Kaz Proctor (Tammy MacIntosh) has established a power base. On the outside, Franky () is trying hard to be a productive member of society.

However, as the 60 second teaser trailer hints, no-one should underestimate Joan “the Freak” Ferguson (Pamela Rabe).

Wentworth Season 4 starts May 10, episodes will premiere Tuesdays at 8.30pm EST on Foxtel’s SoHo channel. Following the premiere broadcast each week, Wentworth will be available to watch when you want, on demand, via Foxtel Anytime on internet connected iQ boxes.
