JOHOR BAHARU, March 5 (Bernama) -- The Sungai Benut and Segamat Umno Divisions today renominated Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad for the post of Umno president and nominated Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for the post of party Deputy President. The Umno elections will be in May.
The Sungai Benut Umno Divisional delegates conference at the Dewan Orang Ramai in Simpang Renggam was opened by its head Abdul Hamid Abdul Rahman who is the MP for Sungai Benut. For the three elected posts of vice president, Sungai Benut nominated Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Rais Yatim and renominated Defence Minister and incumbent Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Sungai Benut also nominated or renoninated the following for seats in the Supreme Council: Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Datuk Azmi Khalid, Datuk Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, Datuk Shariff Omar, Datuk Dr Helmi Yahya, Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali, Datuk Nazri Aziz, Datuk Suleiman Mohamed, Datuk Dr Shafie Mohd Salleh, Datuk Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Datuk Wira Mohd Ali Rustam, Adam Hamid. Datuk Shahrir Samad, Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Datuk Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis, Datuk Mustapa Mohamad, Datuk Zainal Dahlan, Datuk Zainalabidin Mohd Zin, Datuk Salleh Tun Syed Keruak, Tan Sri Kasitah Gaddam, Datuk Khalid Yunus, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, Datuk Shafie Apdal and Datuk Aziz Shamsuddin.
The Segamat Umno Division also renominated Najib and nominated Abdul Ghani and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Tan Sri Mohamed Isa Abdul Samad for three vice president posts. Segamat nominated or renominated the following for seats in the Supreme Council: Datuk Wira Mohd Ali Rustam, Datuk Azmi Khalid, Datuk Shahrir Samad, Datuk Paduka Abdul Hamid Othman, Datuk Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, Datuk Nazri Aziz, Adam Hamid, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli, Datuk Dr Helmi Yahya, Datuk Khalid Ynus, Datuk Mustapa Mohamad, Tan Sri Kasitah Gaddam, Datuk Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
