GAME PREVIEW Tonight’s matchup features your Halifax Mooseheads (12-15-4-3) vs the visiting Cape Breton Eagles (12-21-1-0) at 7pm at Scotiabank Centre. This is the second time the teams will meet within 24 hours following last night’s battle at Centre 200 in Sydney. The Mooseheads played a sound game from start to finish in defeating the Eagles 4-1 on the strength of goals from James Swan, Landon Miron, Senna Peeters and Jordan Dumais. Brady James earned his sixth win of the season by stopping 29 of 30 shots. This marks the record 15th meeting of the season between the provincial rivals as Halifax has played roughly 43 percent of their games in 2020-21 vs Cape Breton. The pandemic has given us some strange statistics. Fans not at tonight’s game can watch on Eastlink channels 10 or 610, listen on NEWS 957 or subscribe to the QMJHL web- cast at https://qmjhl.neulion.com/qmjhl/. SCOTTY’S 3 WHOPPERS OF THE GAME POINTS FOR PEETERS While Justin Barron and Elliot Desnoyers had their respective points scoring streaks snapped last night, Senna Peeters continued his torrid pace since returning from injury last month. Peeters scored the third goal of the game and has points in five straight games. Since coming back from an upper body injury on February, 23rd he has only been held off the scoresheet once and has produced 12 points in seven games. LOCAL GUY With starting goalie William Grimard out with a hand injury, the Cape Breton Eagles called up young Noah Harvey this week from Dartmouth’s Steele Subaru U18 squad. The 16-year-old from Halifax played in the Gulls program in Bantam where he won back-to-back provincial championships before going to Dartmouth for his midget hockey. He was drafted in the 11th round of June’s QMJHL Entry Draft by the Eagles. NHL TRADE There was a notable move for Mooseheads fans last night in the NHL when the Anaheim Ducks traded prospect and for- mer Herd Captain Antoine Morand & a 7th round pick to Tampa Bay for Alex Volkov (no, not our former goalie). Morand was playing, and living with, BO Groulx in San Diego where they were teammates with the AHL’s Gulls.
