Retail investors were the net lead buyers, followed by prop traders; local institutions were lead net sellers, followed by foreign investors. (SET, 21/11/17) Dow Jones The Dow rose 160.50 points, or 0.69%, to 23,590.83, with all three major indices closing at record highs, as investors mulled a batch of generally positive quarterly earnings reports. (Xinhua, 22/11/17) Oil NYMEX: Light, sweet crude for January delivery rose 41 cents to settle at US$56.83 Brent crude for January delivery rose 35 cents to close at US$62.57. (Xinhua, 22/11/17) Gold Gold futures on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange regained some lost ground on Tuesday as the U.S. dollar softened. The most active gold contract for December delivery went up US$6.40, or 0.50%, to close at US$1,281.70/oz. (Xinhua, 22/11/17) Currencies The dollar dropped against other major currencies on Tuesday ahead of a closely-watched speech by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen. (Xinhua, 22/11/17) Global Economy US existing home sales increase more than expected. U.S. home sales increased more than expected in October as hurricane-related disruptions dissipated, but a chronic shortage of houses which is pushing prices beyond the reach of some first-time buyers remains an obstacle. The National Association of Realtors said on Tuesday that existing home sales rose 2.0 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.48 million units last month. September's sales pace was revised down to 5.37 million units from the previously reported 5.39 million units. (CNBC, 22/11/17) ECB Is Said Likely to Take Small Steps in QE Exit Guidance. The European Central Bank is likely to make multiple small adjustments to its guidance on monetary policy next year rather than any major change in language as it ends quantitative easing, according to euro-area officials familiar with the thinking of policy makers. Incremental shifts in the wording used to describe the expected path of its policy would make sense and be consistent with a gradual exit from unconventional stimulus, said the people, who added that the issue hasn’t been formally discussed by the Governing Council. They asked not to be identified because the matter is confidential. An ECB spokesman declined to comment. (Bloomberg, 22/11/17) Thai Economy Cabinet approved a bill to protect consumers. This bill is about letting consumers ask for sellers to take responsibility for quality or damages. This includes cars and mobile phones. (Matichon, 22/11/17) ASIAN ASIAN targets 2018 revenue to grow at least 10-15% after changing its strategy to expand its premium pet food and aquatic feed markets, replacing the fall in frozen tuna, shrimp and squid sales volume. It has budgeted Bt200mn to build new storage, which will increase storage capacity by 15,000 pallets. (Thun Hoon, 22/11/17) BCH BCH saw a new high for number of patients with the support from WMC Hospital. It continues to plan to build four new hospitals worth Bt3bn, funded by cash flow and loans from financial institutions. (Thun Hoon, 22/11/17) CENTEL CENTEL says 4Q17 results will show positive growth thanks to increasing tourists during high season. It is going to open "Cozy Samui" on December 1 and expects "Shop Chuay Chard" campaign to help boost revenue. (Khao Hoon, 22/11/17) CRD CRD believes 2017 revenue will reach its target of Bt1.4bn, as it currently has backlog of Bt1.267bn which will be booked as revenue this year and next. It targets 2018 revenue growth of 10%, as it joins bids for all new projects. It expects to receive new projects worth Bt1.4-1.6bn next year. It reports 9M17 net profit of Bt44mn, growing by 307%.
