More information can be obtained The ‘BeWigged’ Wig Library project has now come to fruition with the at http://www.donatelife.gov.au former Mayor’s Parlour in the Jamestown Town Hall becoming available and refurbished thanks to the Northern Areas Council and proving to be an extremely suitable venue. An official opening on March 15th was performed by Ellen Traeger, who has been an enormous support to the group as she was a founding member of the Caroline Bristow Wig Library in Renmark. The efforts of both Soroptimist and community members have ena- bled the room to become a really beautiful and welcoming space, bright and colourful with wigs and accessories stored there. Losing hair during cancer treatment can really affect a person’s confi- dence and having the wig library as part of the local community allows borrowers a chance to obtain a wig without having to travel far. Wigs are available for anyone currently in need of one simply by con- tacting Mary Clark (0439 840 220) or Margie Simpson (0418 839 901). Borrowers will be fitted for a wig in a confidential and supportive environ- ment by a professional hairdresser with both salons in Jamestown having offered their services to help. A simple ‘Contract to Borrow a Wig’ will need to be completed and a once-of fee of $25 will be charged to cover the cost of the ‘Care Pack’ which includes items necessary to care for the wigs.
