Review by: Chris McNamara on October 2, 2010 Overview The Metolius Super Cam is the biggest climbing cam offering from Metolius Climbing. It Metolius Supercam

comes in three sizes that span from 1.65" to 4.67". They use an innovative asymetical Credit: metoliusclimbing.com cam lobe design unlike any other we have seen before. It gives each cam a range that rivals it's main competitor the Black Diamond Camalot C4. Both are about the same cost but the Camalots are a little lighter. The three sizes of the Supercam (grey, maroon, dark Where to Buy? blue) are roughly equivalent to Camalots #2-4. Resellers Price Reviews Altrec $55.59 - 22% off! Metolius uses a unique "Range Finder" color coded system to help you know if the cam GearX $63.60 - 20% off! is bomber or not. If the green dots are touching the rock, the cam is bomber. If the yellow MooseJaw $69.50 or red dots are touching, it's not. This is very useful for beginning leaders. *If you click on any of the above links and make a purchase, a One downside to the Supercam is it only comes in three sizes so incorporating it into portion of sale helps support this site your rack can be a little tricky. The Metolius Master Cam and Metolius Offset Master Cam are our small cams of choice and won our Small Camming Device Editor's Choice Award. But if you want to use the Supercams, you will need to then switch to another cam once you get to the bigger sizes. True, not many people carry a lot of cams bigger than 4.67" on their rack, but it is still a bit of a pain. Also, we are not as big a fan of the Master Cams in the bigger sizes (#5 and #6) as we are of the Master Cam in the Smaller Metolius Super Cam Go sizes (#00-4). So for now we are sticking with Master Cams for our small cams up to #4 and then switching to Green Camalots and going up from there with Camalot C4's.
