Prince William County Board of County Supervisors 1 County Complex Ct Woodbridge, VA 22192

Dear Prince William County Board of County Supervisors:

My name is Jackson and I am a resident of Brentsville. I am also a Candidate for Prince William County School Board - Brentsville District. My hope is to address the Board of County Supervisors in person at your meeting on June 18, 2019. I submit this letter for the record.

I am a teacher. I have been buried under grading papers, writing IEPs, and teaching math these past years as a special education teacher in the Prince William County Schools. I have trusted the governing, protecting, and leading to you; I trusted the Board of County Supervisors to make choices that protect and support of all my students.

I believe in showing all my students love and respect, including, and especially, those in the LGBTQIA community. I have personally seen how easily it is for these students to be bullied and how hard it is for them to find adults to trust. Let’s show them, my students, that they can trust you. Let’s show them, my students, that you support them and show them love.

You are leaders in the community. My students are watching. Please let them know that they are safe in this community and that they are valued by their community leaders. Unanimously pass the proclamation in support of naming June as Pride Month in Prince William County and show all of the students I have taught, and particularly those who are in the LGBTQIA community, that you support them.

Thank you for your time,

Adele Jackson
