HEDDA PRODUCTION NOTES
Theatre
" Rehearsals for Hedda began September 2013, followed by three preview nights at Burgh House, Hampstead.
Directed by Patrick Sandford (Artistic Director of the Nuffield Theatre 1989-2013), we mined Ibsen’s rich imagery, including, most radically, bringing to life the oft mentioned character of Diana. In the original, Hedda’s nemesis is alluded to but not seen. In casting the exceptional singing talent that is Nina Richardson, we have summoned her up. She exists in provocative counterpoint to Hedda.
Film The pivotal relationship between Hedda and Edmund is explored in a short film set three years before the events of the play. To view, search “Hedda and Edmund”.
Online A marriage gift from her husband’s aunt six months before the play begins, Hedda has spent her honeymoon customizing this housewife’s manual in a most disquieting way.
