A31 TRUNK ROAD ( AND DORSET) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS Notice is hereby given that Highways Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A31 Trunk Road in the Counties of Hampshire and Dorset, and the Unitary Authority of , under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be, in alternate phases, to:- 1. impose a - a. 30 mph speed limit on both carriageways of the A31 between Marsh Lane and the local road leading to and from Almer; b. 50 mph speed limit on the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between a point 250 metres west of Ameysford Roundabout (A338) and the entry slip road at Ashley Heath Roundabout (A338); and c. 50 mph speed limit on the westbound carriageway of the A31 between the exit slip road at Ashley Heath Roundabout (A338) and a point 250 metres west of Ameysford Roundabout (A338). 2. authorise the overnight closure of - a. both carriageways of the A31 between Ameysford Roundabout and Canford Bottom Roundabout (B3073); b. the slip road leading to the westbound carriageway of the A31 from Salisbury Road Junction (A338); c. the slip roads leading to and from the westbound carriageway of the A31 at Verwood Road Junction (B3081); d. the slip road leading to the westbound carriageway of the A31 from Ashley Heath Roundabout (A338); e. the slip road leading from the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Picket Post; f. the slip road leading from the westbound carriageway of the A31 at Picket Post; g. any bus stop areas adjacent to the lengths of carriageway in 1. b. and c. above; and h. the bus stop area adjacent to the roads leading to and from the westbound carriageway of the A31 to Ashley Heath Roundabout (A338). 3. authorise the overnight prohibition of access to and from the eastbound A31 at - a. Stoney Cross; b. the local access road leading to and from ; and c. Priory Road, Pinehurst Road, the Murco Petroleum service station, and Abbey Road, between Palmersford Roundabout and Azalea Roundabout; 4. authorise the overnight prohibition of access to and from the westbound A31 at - a. the local access road leading to and from ; b. Birch Road, Beech Road, and Starbucks, between Ashley Heath Roundabout (A338) and Boundary Lane Roundabout; c. Cracklewood Close and the local roads between Azalea Roundabout and Palmersford Roundabout (A350); d. the local access road leading from the B3075 near The World’s End Public House; 5. authorise the 24 hour closure of the lay-bys - a. adjacent to the eastbound A31 between Abbey Road and Azalea Roundabout; and b. adjacent to both carriageways of the A31 between Picket Post and Stoney Cross. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake the renewal of traffic signs and all associated works. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 4 months starting on or after Monday 6th November 2017. The overnight closures would take place between 22:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order would come into force on 4 November 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months. Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using other junctions of the A31 and A337, B3075, B3078, B3081, Bull Lane, Football Green, Forest Road, Hurn Lane, Linford Road, New Road, Road, Seaman’s Road, Southampton Road, Vermin Lane, West Moors Road and Wimbourne Road. The diversion in operation would vary according to the closures in force. The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
