GET COMFORTABLE--Apparently winning takes time, as the Royals have played 8 hours and 54 minutes of baseball in the first two games of this series against the Orioles, averaging 4:27 per contest...in the six postseason games to this point, Kansas City has averaged 4:12 per game, with the “fastest” affair a 3:38 minute win in the ALDS clincher against the Angels, the only contest that didn’t have a bottom of the ninth, while the 12-inning Wild Card win over Oakland took 4:45 to complete. FOUR RUNS STILL THE KEY--The Royals have put up some phenomenal numbers when the offense has been able to get at least four runs across the plate in a game over the last two seasons, and this postseason has been no different...Kansas City is 6-0 to this point and has scored at least four times in five of the six games, the only one without scoring four was the 3-2, 11-inning win in Anaheim in Game #1 of the ALDS...during the regular season, KC was 69-14 when scoring at least four runs and combined with last year (64-14), the Royals are 105 games over .500 during the regular season when scoring at least four runs (133-28). ROAD WARRIORS--The 4-0 road mark this postseason is consistent with the regular season as the Royals saved their best work for the road this year going 47-34 away from ‘The K’, five wins better than Kansas City totaled at home this year (42-39)...the road year turned around in Chicago, as KC entered play on July 22 in Chicago with a 26-25 record away from ‘The K’, but then reeled off a 21-9 record in road tilts, matching the Angels for the most road wins since that date...Kansas City was 8-1-1 in its last 10 road series played...the 47 road wins were the third most in franchise history and one win behind the ‘77 club for second highest success rate away from home. A WINNER IN THE CLINCHER--Jeremy last worked on September 26, tossing 7.0 shutout innings in the Royals’ 3-1 triumph at U.S. Cellular Field, which wrapped up Kansas City’s playoff spot...the veteran righty allowed no runs on 4 hits with a walk and 6 strikeouts in the outing, firing 93 pitches...it was his longest scoreless outing of the season...before Guthrie had even thrown a pitch in Chicago, his offense staked him to a 3-0 lead, thanks to RBI hits from Nori Aoki, Lorenzo Cain and Billy Butler in the top of the first...the win was Jeremy’s 13th of the year and 33rd since joining the Royals mid-season in 2012...his 33 victories are the ninth-most in the American League in that span, one shy of teammate James Shields and Angels’ lefty C.J. Wilson (34), who are tied for seventh. AGE IS JUST A NUMBER--At 35 years, 189 days old, Jeremy will become the eldest Royal to start a postseason game, passing the late Paul Splittorff, who made his final postseason start on October 10, 1980 at Yankee Stadium (Game 3 - ALCS) at 34 years, 2 days...Guthrie is also the oldest starting pitcher to make his postseason debut since former Mets righty Steve Trachsel (35 years, 341 days) did it in Game 3 of the 2006 National League Division Series vs. the Dodgers (Oct. 7). DEALING DOWN THE STRETCH--Guthrie was 8-2 over his final 12 starts, with the win total tying him for second in the A.L. from July 26 on, trailing only L.A.’s Matt Shoemaker (9)...he was named the Royals Pitcher of the Month for September after going 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA over 5 outings, including a 0.89 ERA at home.
