Young ladies in grades 9-12 interested in vying for the title of Miss Calendar Girl are invited to attend. The brunch will be held Saturday, August 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Anderson United Methodist Church, Education Annex, 6205 Hanging Moss Road, Jackson, MS.

During the brunch, sorority members will discuss the history of the cotillion, as well as, provide infor- mation regarding requirements for the Miss Calendar Girl Cotillion.

“The Miss Calendar Girl Cotillion is a very worthwhile program,” said Linda Garter, chairperson of the event. “In addition to the community service component of the cotillion, our program includes several empowerment workshops. Previous workshop topics have included: domestic violence prevention, money management, table manners and self-esteem. Past Miss Calendar Girl contestants have gone on to become very successfully young women. In addition to serving as campus queens at Tougaloo College and Jackson State University, they are attorneys, journalists, doctors, and research scientists, and educators.
