Senior Women v The Gap FC 1:30pm Senior Men Fire v Northern Fury FC 2:00pm

www.sunshinecoastfc.com.au From the Managing Director A warm welcome to all supporters and players to Kawana Western Sports Precinct Western Fields for another great day of football. Today is the first home game of the season for the Senior Men and Women in what is shaping up to be a competitive couple of games. The women have a tough game ahead of them against 2015 champions/premiers The Gap. If the Fire women can overcome The Gap, they will prove that they are a serious threat for the premiership. While coach, Tom White has a young side, they’re all eager, talented girls who have had two great games so far this season. The Senior Men will kick off at 2pm against Northern Fury, who will be making their way down from for today’s game. The Fire men have done well this season and are focused and determined to make the top four come Round 22. Northern Fury will definitely be looking to gain some points this weekend, coming into Round 3 with an empty points box.

Our junior boys and girls are also playing at Western Fields with the first matches kicking off at 10am. I wish all teams the best of luck. GO THE FIRE!!

Warm regards, Noel Woodall Managing Director Sunshine Coast FC Fire

As we welcome SWQ Thunder to our alternative venue for our junior boys games, The GAP for our Junior and Senior women's fixtures, Western Pride for our U18's game and of course Northern Fury for our Men's senior fixture. Today without doubt will be an entertaining wall to wall football fest for any football enthusiast, having all Sunshine Coast FC teams at the same venue will give any spectator locally an opportunity to come and see all 2016 squads in action. Whilst all the junior coaches have been working extremely hard with their players male and female, we have picked up some fantastic results in each age group over the past 4 rounds. Tom White, our senior women's coach, has assembled a good young squad that demonstrates plenty of promise for the season ahead, with the return of Samara Christmas. It is testimony to the work Tom is doing to push the girls on, we wish the ladies every success in the 2016 season. Our newly appointed head coach Sam Saif takes control of his full first game today against Fury. Sam has managed to bring in a couple of fresh faces as he looks to bolster his squad for the season ahead. The club have been delighted with how Sam and his assistant Paul Edwards have galvanised the senior men's team since their arrival late February, and I wish Sam, Paul and the senior team all the very best for the season ahead. In other areas of the club, we staged the very first SAP carnival early February which was a major success, we had over 23 teams represent all NPL clubs competing on the same day, with some superb football on display from ourselves and our counterparts from the NPL. Our Elite Academy continues to grow with a new influx of players this is through the proactive approach we have taken as a club to operate in schools unearthing the next generation of talent for Sunshine Coast FC. Please keep a look out on our website for our up and coming holiday program, spots are filling up fast so get in early to avoid disappointment. Have a great day and good luck to all players and staff today. Melvyn Wilkes Technical Director of Coaching Sunshine Coast FC From the Senior Men’s Coach

I would like to welcome all the players and the coaching staff from Fury for this afternoon’s game.

Firstly I would like to say it has been a baptism of fire for myself and the first team assistant coach Paul Edwards. We met the Fire players 24 hours before we played Ipswich away. In a short space of time we changed the shape of the team and asked the players to work to a game plan. We have to say that all the players were outstanding and really deserved to get the 3 points, but football is what it is.

Last weekend’s game against FNQ was always going to be a tough game to get a result. After speaking to Paul Edwards about the game, the difference was that all the FNQ players were grown men playing against Sunshine Coast Fire which most of our players are around 21 years old, with two 16/17 years olds on the bench. We did ourselves proud even though the score line did not reflect the result. On top of that our main striker Jeremy pulled up in the 44th minute with a hamstring strain and could be out for at least a month which is a big blow to us.

Today’s game is a game that we will be looking to get a result, we have to as a team win our home games if we want to be competitive in this league. We have now signed three players who are over 25 years old to support and help develop our younger players who I believe have great potential to become very good players. Lets hope for a first win of season and a good game for all spectators.

This weekend we welcome The Gap to our grounds, this is a fixture we looked for as soon as they were released as to us The Gap seem to be a favourite for the title. They are very strong and host a wealth of experience. We will have a go at them and use this to help our young girls develop and become a better unit.

Hopefully we can retain possession for big parts of the game and hopefully nick a result. We welcome a new signing into our squad with Alex Psarros joining us. She will provide great strength, power and experience to our back line, I'm looking forward to her linking up with the squad. Our girls will give it everything and I hope they build and learn from last week’s disappointment. I know the girls are raring to go!

Queensland’s most promising young PlayStation 4 talents are set to be the focus of a new Fox Sports series. The eight-part series will be called ‘PS4 Player Pathway Ones to Watch’ and will be hosted by football pundit and Fox Sports presenter Adam Peacock. The series announcement coincides with today’s announcement of the PS4™ Player Pathway Award which will provide three Queenslanders join 21 others from around the country in the chance to earn a two-week trial with Hyundai A-League club Sydney FC. Peacock said the series will be about more than just statistics and skills and he is eagerly anticipating the chance to shine light on talented players across Australia. “I am really looking forward to following the PS4 NPL talent as part of the Ones to Watch series because football is about more than just a sport – it’s about the players’ stories, the communities, the determination and the passion for our beautiful game,” said Peacock. “There is no better place to capture this spirit than on the regional football pitches around Australia.” “The PS4 Player Pathway initiative is exactly what grassroots football deserves to ensure no talent slips under the radar,” he concluded.
