Our Ardlethan/ Cricketers go down fighting in PSSA Knockout

On the 23rd April our combined Ardlethan/Ariah Park PSSA Cricket Team travelled to Wagga to play against South Wagga Public School in round three of the PSSA Knockout competition. The South Wagga Captain won the toss and elected to bat. This was the third consecutive time our team was given the opportunity to bowl first in this competition.

Our opening bowlers started very well, in keeping the South Wagga opening batsman to 39 runs in the first half of their batting innings. The South Wagga batsmen were resilient after the drinks break, scoring an im- pressive 71 runs in the second half of their innings. Blake Smith-APCS, Jack Hawthorne-APCS, Nate Doyle- ACS and Tom Denyer-APCS took one wicket each. Zac Dart-APCS was involved in a run out and Harry Collis- ACS took a great catch. The South Wagga bowling attack was consistent, bowl- ing straight, fast and limiting our scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, our team was unable to reach the South Wagga target of 110 runs and were dismissed for 47 runs after 20 overs. Blair McLean-APCS top scored and Jack Hawthorne-ACS was awarded man of the match for his impressive wicket keeping skills. Congratulations to all of our boys for displaying super enthusiasm, skill and sportsmanship throughout this knockout competition. AUSKICK AND NET SET GO NET SET GO:- It was a great first week back for our netta girls with so many happy friendly faces!!!! We would like to firstly welcome Jessie Forrester who has taken on the role as coach. After a little warm up the girls practised their balancing by standing on one leg and throwing a bean bag in the air to try and catch. They then played tunnel ball and changed it up to under over, the girls had fun doing this. We also played “ball pick up race” and “names”, but the favourite activity of the day was the obstacle course, running through the cones, side stepping, hoping in the hoops finishing with shooting the ball. Some of the girls shooting skills are amazing!!!! This week our Good Sports Awards went to Elke Richens and our IGA Player of the week was Charlie Brooks, congratulations girls and well done everyone.

Junior Jets Football Report

Our season kicked off at Leeton on Saturday, as always the Leeton club were very welcoming. Thank you to all our supporters and helpers who turned out to cheer our boys on in what finished a very wet day. Thank you to all the coaches and managers for 2015 who have chosen to support our players, without you we couldn’t field all our teams.

Under 11’s Report

What a great start to the season. In the first quarter we were a little slow to get going, players playing in new positions looked a little lost, but our endeavor greatly improved throughout the next three quarters. We definitely need to work on our fitness during training! When we moved the ball well we looked hard to beat and this will come with time and practice. Awards this week were the $10 Land- mark Award to Harry Collis who had great attack on the ball and terrific pressure on the man, good game. The Ardlethan Pharmacy socks went to Taylor Heath, his tackling pressure was outstanding. Goal kickers this week were Jack Hawthorne and Charlie McCor- mack, other players who went well were Nate Doyle, Zac Dart, Harrison Judd and Jack Hawthorne. Hope to see everyone at training and very much looking forward to playing Temora under lights next Friday night. Final score Leeton 4 - 4 - 28 def Jets 2 - 5 - 17 Under 13’s Report

A big thank you to some U11’s boys for backing up this week, Zac Dart, Riley Judd, Jack Hawthorne and Nate Doyle. It was great to see Sam Clemson able to make our game as well. The awards today, Oscar Day received the coaches (Geoff Fairman) award, Ho- tel socks to Sullivan Walker and the Ariah Park Hardware $10 award to Sam Clemson. Other players to mention on the day were Nic Fairman, Jack Hawthorne, Jim Griffin and Fraser Harper. Goal kickers were Zac Dart, Harry Morris and Riley Walker. A good game to start off the season let’s hope we have our full side in next week against Temora. Final score Leeton 7 - 4 - 46 def Jets 3 - 2 - 20 Under 15’s Report

The boys were keen to begin the 2015 season with Jeromy voted in as captain and Blake Harper voted in as Vice Captain. This set the scene for a great contest against the strong Leeton outfit, which is probably the benchmark of the league. With great determination the boys played some fantastic football under slippery playing conditions. They were equal at Half Time and by the start of the third quarter the boys trailed by 6 points; The final quarter was pressure football with Leeton able to kick the first two goals to win the match by 18 points. Zach Griffin played well at Centre half back with many counter attacks and broth- er Jim Griffin was terrific on the back line, repelling many forward presses. Jerry was brilliant for four quarters, and kicked three goals to win the Jason Bryce Spreading $10 award. Ben Carmichael had a superb game saving many goals at full back and kick- ing one goal to win the Elders socks. Other goal kickers were Mitch Doyle and Nic Fairman, while Jed Litchfield, Mitch Doyle, Ben Cattle, Hamish Gaynor, Will and Tom Clemson all played their part, but unfortunately could not get the Jets over the line. We would like to make special thanks to Will and Tom Clemson for their support of our team in playing fine football on the wing as well as the under 13’s players who backed up for another game of footy and we must not forget Blake Harper's great marks all throughout the game. We now look forward to our next game against Temora. Final score Leeton 10 - 7 - 67 def Jets 6 - 13 - 49. Well done boys a great effort for your first game. We would like to thank all our generous sponsors for 2015, Delta, Ariah Park Bowling Club, Elders, Ardlethan Service Centre, Landmark, Jason Bryce Spreading, Ariah Park Hardware, Mirrool Hotel, Geoff & Leonie Fairman, Ardlethan Pharmacy, Beckom Roadhouse and the Ardlethan Bowling Club. Junior Jets Football Report

Our Anzac weekend of footy and netball began under lights on Friday night at Ariah Park and finished with the 15’s playing on Sunday before the senior games. As always Temora were great competitors.

Under 11’s Report

The boys had a great win against under the lights, we had 25 players and every one of them had a great game and played their part. There were many goal kickers, 9 in all, Riley Judd finished with 3, Nate Doyle and Charlie McCormack with 2 each to be our multiple scorers. Single goals to Zac Dart, Harry Roscarel, Alex Harper, Jack Hawthorne, Brady Edis and Harrison Judd. The home game Elders towel award went to our centre half forward who had another great game, Jack Hawthorne, well done. The Landmark $10 went to Zac Dart who attacked the ball all over the ground. The Ardlethan Pharmacy socks went to Oliver French who started down back, then went forward and finished the game in the ruck to play a great game. Well done boys!

Final score Jets 13 - 9 - 87 def Temora 0 - 1 - 1

Under 13’s Report

Great to see the Roscarel’s for their first game in 2015 and thanks to the U11’s, Nate and Jack who played up for us to fill our side. What a great win for the team under lights, which makes it a bit more difficult for all players. Under pressure, in a low scoring game the boys played well. The home game Ardlethan Service Centre towel award went to Brodie Jones for a good and fair game, his first for the year. Blair Mclean won the Mirrool Hotel socks, after playing a fabulous game on the wing. Nic Fairman rucked well to receive the Ariah Park Hardware $10 award and Josh Roscarel showing lots of dash all over the ground received the coaches award. Goals to Josh, Nic and Jack McCormack. Other players who were named in the best were Harry Morris and Jim Griffin.

Final score Jets 3 - 4 - 22 def Temora 0 - 2 - 2

Under 15’s Report

We were beaten by a primed, quality Temora side for our Sunday game in front of a big home crowd. Our boys, like our diggers fought hard all day without giving up. Our best players were hard to separate with Kai Davies, winning the $10 Jason Bryce Spreading award. Zac Griffin had a superb game saving many goals at centre half back to win the Elders socks. And the main Northern Jet home game towel award sponsored by the Ardlethan Service Centre went to Hamish Gaynor who went in for the hard ball with no fear. Mitch Doyle and Lachlan Jones rucked hard and tried all day to rate in the best players. New players on the ground played their roles well, Tom Lawrence kicked a goal after the siren to almost win the game and Tom McGrath worked hard continually running the ball out of fullback. Blake Harper played well again kicking three goals and single goals today for Sam Quade, Ben Carmichael, Lachlan Jones and Tom Lawrence. Thanks again to the boys who came across from the Northern Riverina teams to help us out, particularly our first gamer Ky Hanlon. A great effort against a quality opponent.

Final score Temora 7 - 11 - 53 def Jets 7 - 8 - 50.

Next week we will be at home to in the 11’s and 13’s and the 15’s play Leeton, all games will be played at Ariah Park.

Round 2 Under 11’s What a fabulous start to the Under 11's season. The girls won convincingly 17-3, but Temora challenged our girls throughout the game. Our beautiful girls played so well, with our newbies settling in like ducks to water. Isabel Gaynor was a pocket rocket through the centre and took out Best on Court. Charlotte Brill tried hard all game and deservedly won the canteen award. The Delta towel award for player's player went to Emma Mor- ris who shone in Goal Shooter. All the girls deserve congratulations on strengths during the game. Let's look forward to a great season. Thanks to Emma Doyle for umpiring.

Under 13’s The under 13's won in a heart stopping nail biting game, the girls had the never give up attitude that got them over the line by two goals. The $10 award went to Hayley Buerckner and the canteen award to Hannah O'Dwyer for their work in defence, shutting Temora's attacking end down. The Landmark towel award went to Erin for working hard at both ends of the court on the wings.

Under 15’s Award winners: Bowling Club Keisha McLean, Players Player Nancy French, Delta towel award Kacy Bell, final score 44 to 3. In the centre Keisha Mclean and Shelby Worland kept the ball moving to the shooters. Ellie Walker was again very accurate with her shooting. Jess Durham was also very strong in defence. Alyssa Denyer, Emily Buerckner, Chloe Minchin and Laura Maslin all worked well to help the Jets take home the points again this week.
