j Foreword

The Environment Agency's vision is for:

'A healthy, rich and diverse environment in and Wales for present and future generations'.

One of the key ways of achieving this is wiser, more sustainable use of natural resources. Industry and consumers alike will need to minimise the waste they produce and maximise their efficient use of energy and raw materials. They will also need to recycle and reuse existing materials more intensively.

This recycling directory has been produced to assist business in responsible waste management. It highlights the opportunities for waste minimisation and recycling in industrial and commercial organisations and offers best practice advice. Both local and national operators providing a service in the South West have been included in this publication.

The directory is designed to: • Be a one stop directory of firms involved in recycling industrial and commercial waste • Offer advice on waste minimisation best practice; and • Give information and contact details on local specialist environmental clubs

I believe this booklet will give practical help in achieving more sustainable waste management and a wiser use of natural resources'. We are very keen to hear your views on how we can improve further editions or if you have made any savings as a result of using this guide.
