Out of the millions of shells scat- (past COVA Board Member) tered on the sand, I tried to carefully pick out those, which I considered most interesting. Rutman (AdminEstate Corporation) When the Art Institute moved back into the Park in 1997, I, along with Anabel Mintz, Pat Vaughn Woods, CFP Sullivan, Anna Jenkins, and several others were asked to sit on the Board of Directors. This was just the beginning of my husband Dom’s commitment to the Art Institute. Co-Sponsors Commission for Arts & Culture, City of San Diego We were a very needy organization and the Art Director, Kaye D. Benton, asked Dom Friends of SDAI (very nicely), to build some portable walls for the gallery. He built four or five walls and San Diego Art Department/Ray Street they have been and indispensible asset to the exhibition space. One time when the gal- Director – Andrea Chamberlin lery walls were in very bad shape, Dom got down to his knees and painted the bottom Studio Assistant – Alex Field third of the walls around the entire gallery to make it easier and cheaper for the walls Staff of SDAI to be painted. We donated, and he physically installed, the entire sound system. Dom built the Gallery Assistant/Public Relations – Marc Pickett storage cubicles in the back room for storing the art work as it comes in for the jurying Graphic Designer/Production Coordinator - Jack Wade process. This storage may not be very glamorous, but it is functional! For a temporary fix, Poet Program Coordinator – Michael Klam he built the partition wall between the exec
