1 WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES December 31, 2018 MONDAY Section Four End of some eras, start of others marked 2018 By the Daily Times staff In 2018, some storied eras came to a close while others were just beginning. For the Green Bay Packers, a second straight season miss- ing the playoffs cost longtime head coach Mike McCarthy his job. His tenure will be best re- membered for the team’s fourth Super Bowl championship won in 2010. For anyone who remem- bers Badger football before Barry Alvarez arrived in 1993, these are still the good days with a high bar. The men’s basketball team enjoyed a run similar to the football team but finally saw its run of NCAA Tournament appearances come to a close in DAILY TIMES 2018.
