TONY MOMRELLE Biography

TONY MOMRELLE is one of the most exciting and significant, Soul musician on the modern British stage.

It’s been a fantastic year 2015 for Tony which has seen the release of his new "Keep Pushing" to rave reviews and has put Tony firmly on the map as one of the UK's finest soul singers.

He performed at Radio 2 in Hyde Park 2015 in September, which goes down as one of the highlights of his singing career and was part of the fantastic Capital Jazz Super Cruise line up in October, Tony is nominated as “Best Male Soul Artist” by Soul Tracks and just performed for BBCs “Soul Night Out in aid of Children need help”, which will be broadcasted nationwide.

Tony started studying music when he was just eight years old and was lucky to grow up in the church learning to sing gospel. Tony started rapping at the age of thirteen and got into a hip-hop band. By the age of eighteen he started getting into professional singing and song writing, which also meant doing backing vocals for various artists and vocal producing.

All of these led Tony to tour with some of the greatest artists in the world such as Elton John, Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Sade, Gary Barlow, Andrea Bocelli, Gwen Stefani, Gabrielle, Robert Palmer, Beautiful South and, Gospel music group Seven….and on and on, with way too many to mention!

His success in the touring event seriously impressed Incognito’s front man, Bluey Maunick, and he offered him the job as the lead male vocalist of the famous British Acid-jazz band with whom he has travelled the world gracing various stages for more than twelve years!.

Before his stint in Incognito, Tony was already an accomplished solo recording artist. Music critics such as John Rockwell and Paul Morley consider Tony the new Stevie Wonder of the 21st century because of his similarity to the music legend’s vocal vibe.

Whilst on tour with Incognito in Japan, Tony got a surprise phone call from Stevie Wonder, who said he loved his voice and was a fan of the band.

Momrelle has been busy over the past two years touring the world for Sade, supporting Incognito everywhere from Europe to Japan.
