DENVER BRONCOS QUOTES (11/10/11)

WIDE RECEIVER ERIC DECKER

On being back in contention in the AFC West “We fought our way back into it. [Raiders vs. Chargers] is a big game tonight, a division game, and for us, going to Kansas City on Sunday is going to be a swing either way. We know how important this game is––every game is important in this league—but when you play a division rival and you’ve got a chance to position yourself [near] the top, we’ve got to take full advantage of it.”

On bouncing back from earlier losses this season “Right away, I definitely thought we had the talent. We were playing games where we gave ourselves a chance to win, and we couldn’t find ways to do it. Now, we’re not turning the ball over offensively, getting turnovers defensively—and that big punt return Eddie had—and all phases are kind of clicking, coming together now. If we continue to do that, I won’t be surprised at all of what our potential is.”

On using Twitter to communicate “It’s great way to have people get to know you because there is a following there. Even promoting—we have a charity event on Nov. 21, a bowling event—you’re able to do things like that, promote and get people involved and just have them know what’s going on in your life and send them messages and make them feel important.”

On the offense “I think we’re slowly molding into the strengths of our , . We’re trying to do more option read type things; we’re trying to make quicker passes. We’re still taking our shots, but we’re trying to utilize his ability to run. Also, our running backs and our line are playing great, so we have to keep going with that. We’re pounding the football right now; we’ve just got to get better in the passing game.”

On optimism “I definitely can feel the optimism, and I just know guys are back healthy; guys are feeling great. To get [DE] Elvis [Dumervil] some sacks last week, we know he’s back. [CB] Champ [Bailey] had some picks. I think all around—as a whole team—not just offensively, we’re definitely picking our game up and we’re playing together a lot better.”

On growing as a receiver “The more experience you get, the more comfortable you get, and the more confidence you have; so every week, the mistakes I make, I learn from them and try not to make them again. I study other guys to get better and be able to utilize others’ moves up the line or getting in and out of routes. I definitely feel like my game is getting better, and I’ve got to keep taking it one step at a time.”
