Cavaliers Key Dates In The 2011-12 Season December 26 – The Cavaliers opened a shortened 66 game January 29 – In the first game of a home-and-home series with the 2011-12 season at Quicken Loans Arena against the Toronto Boston Celtics, the Cavaliers pulled off one of their most dramatic Raptors. Anderson Varejao recorded his first double-double of victories of the season. Trailing by 11 points with 4:25 left in the the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds, including seven fourth in Boston, the Cavs went on a 12-0 run to close out the offensive rebounds, in 33 minutes. Ramon Sessions led all game. Pitt also advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the fourth time in the last six years and became the only Big East program to win at least 20 overall games (29) and 10 league games (12) in each of the last six seasons. OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE UT Martin's Hudson and Campbell, Morehead State's Faried and Murray State's Aska Take Home Top OVC Men's Basketball Awards March 5, 2009 Not For Release Until at 6:30 p.m. CT Contact: Kyle Schwartz BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - For the second straight year University of Tennessee at Martin senior guard Lester Hudson has been tabbed Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, as announced by the Conference on Thursday. Joining Hudson among the 2008-09 OVC award winners (done by a vote the League's head coaches and sports information directors) is his coach, Bret Campbell, who was named OVC Coach of the Year for the first time. Other award winners included Morehead State sophomore center Kenneth Faried, who was named the inaugural OVC Defensive Player of the Year, and Murray State forward Ivan Aska who was tabbed OVC Freshman of the Year. Hudson is the first OVC player to repeat as Player of the Year since Murray State's Marcus Brown won the award in 1994-95 and 1995-96. Overall he is the 11th OVC player to win the award in back-to-back years in the 61 years of the league. After one of the best all-around seasons in league history a year ago, Hudson, the preseason Player of the Year this season, put together another season to remember. During the regular season Hudson averaged 26.6 points a contest, which was second nationally (trailing only Davidson's Stephen Curry). He scored 20 or more points in the first 26 games of the season, becoming the only player in Division I to accomplish that feat.

NEWSLETTER #65 - 2008-09 XAVIER CONDITIONING All summer long, we point towards one small test of conditioning that occurs the first Friday of the school year...the mile run. This mile will be the one and only time each year we run on a track. Based on their position, players are expected to meet a certain time for this mile. If they do not meet this time, they are expected to do two weeks of extra conditioning prior to the start of full team conditioning. We stress the importance of “ALL YEAR CONDITIONING”. The culture we have built does not allow for a player to view summer as “time off” or an opportunity to scale back. This test serves as the ultimate barometer of that. In the past four years of using this test, we have had no more than one player per year miss their time.
