We explicitly point out that all functions of this control unit should only be used while exercising caution and responsibility. We can NOT be held liable for any damage or injury caused by installing or using this product.PLEASE READ THE COMPLETE MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT.

Installation - Important Information This module comes with our USB Field Upgrade and Configuration Port! BEFORE YOU INSTALL, we encourage you to connect the module using the supplied USB cable and check for firmware updates. All information and software regarding this new feature can be found at www.mods4cars.com/usb. You can even configure and activate your favorite module functions and settings on screen before the module is installed in the car! It is also possible to permanently install the USB cable with the module in the car, leaving the PC end in an easily accessible spot for later use with a Wifi laptop.

The most common problem during installation is a bad contact between the plugs from the supply wires and the t-taps. Please make absolutely sure that the metal blades of the plugs slide into the slots of the t-taps. It happens that the blade "misses" the slot and the connection looks correct, but doesn't make electrical contact! The T- taps come in RED (for thin wires), BLUE (for medium wires) and YELLOW (for thick wires). To test if you installed the module correctly after all wires are connected, tap the UNLOCK button on your factory remote once (this wakes up the car electronics) and watch the green LED on the module. IT MUST BLINK (turning on and off constantly) to signal a correct installation. If the LED either does not turn on or stays on permanently, there is a bad contact or a missing connection! See below for a detailed explanation of the InstallAID™ LED. The green InstallAID™ LED signals a correct installation and shows the status of the module.LED OFF Ignition OFF: CAN bus and module are in low- power standby mode. This is normal. Ignition ON: Either power connection or CAN bus connection is interrupted. Check the two wire taps for power and ground as well as the CAN connectors. Also make sure the CAN polarity is correct. LED either dimly lit or flickering erratically A dim or flickering LED is an indicator for interrupted or missing POWER or GROUND connections. The module will get some leakage current from the CAN bus which causes the LED to stay dimly lit or flicker erratically. See previous paragraph about t-taps! LED permanently ON Module is connected to CAN and power, but does not receive the correct data. Recheck all connections thoroughly. A VERY COMMON source of problems is reversed polarity on the CAN wires. Double-check the POLARITY and wire- colors of all connections! LED blinks CAN bus is active, the module is connected correctly and ready for use. Installation - Steps 1-3 1. IMPORTANT: Turn off ignition and pull key before installing! Flip down backseat-backrest and remove both hooks (1) by unscrewing 2x Torx T-20 screws each, then remove outer plastic rings (2) by pulling. They will slide off. Do not remove the torx screws in the middle of the rubber cores.

2. Remove rubber strip (1) completely, then remove the door of the load- through hatch by pulling up. It is only snapped in place. Also remove the two screw covers (2) and (3). Underneath are two 10mm bolts. On cars WITHOUT the ski passthrough there is one torx screw (T-25) in the bottom middle of the small storage area. it is disguised with a "fuzzy" carpet-like cap.

3. Remove screws (1) and (2) with a box wrench or ratchet/socket and pull the whole facing up and out. It also just snaps into place, so you just need to pull hard enough.

Installation - Steps 4-6

4. Looking from the front to the back of the car, remove cushioned left side part of the back seat: Pull to the middle and access latching mechanism (1) with a screw driver to disengage it. Lift backrest up, unhook side part on the bottom, then flip backrest back down.

5. Along the left side of the carpeted back-board are plastic bolts that can only be removed after the center piece (core) was pulled out. Next pull hard on the top edge of the back-board to disengage the 4 reusable bolts along the top from the metal frame underneath. The wiring harness visible in the picture directly leads to the roof controller box which is hidden behind the upper left side of the back- board.

6. Locate the roof controller box (white box sitting upright in a slot in the upper left corner behind the back-board with several plugs connected to it) and remove the long black plug (1) in the middle by first flipping the latch bracket up. Remove cap according to arrow after unlatching the hook (2) first.

Installation - Steps 7-9 7. Remove the electrical tape along the wiring harness to gain access to the wires. This wiring harness holds a thick red and a thick brown wire which need to be tapped into later with the yellow T-Taps.

8. Remove the ORANGE-GREEN (1) wire in position 40 and the GREEN (2) wire in position 41 from the plug setup by carefully pushing down on the metal tab with a small screw driver through the square hole while gently pulling on the appropriate wire.

9. Also remove the BROWN-PURPLE (1) wire in position 14 and the BROWN- WHITE (2) wire in position 13.

Installation - Steps 10-12

10. Install the wires from the module wiring harness into the positions just freed: GREEN in position 14, BLUE in position 13. Depending on the supplied wiring harness version either BROWN or ORANGE-BROWN in position 41 and ORANGE or ORANGE-GREEN in position 40. Now install the original wires into the supplied plastic caps: BROWN- PURPLE in position 1 and BROWN- WHITE in position 2 as well as ORANGE-GREEN in position 1 and GREEN in position 2. The positions are marked clearly on the rear end where the wires are

inserted. Make sure they latch into place with an audible "click", then push in the locking latches on the sides of the caps. Connect them as shown to the ones from the module's wiring harness.

11. Attach the power supply T-Taps with combination pliers or vise grips. Tap the thick red (+12V) wire (1) and the thick brown (GROUND) wire (2). Attach the module wires and reinstall the plug cap. Make sure the latch (3) clicks back into place. Reattach plug to the roof controller box.

12. Turn the ignition on and watch the LED (1) on the module: It must show a constant blinking pattern. See paragraph about InstallAID LED. Last, put everything back together in the reverse order of removal. Done.
