THE VILLAGE VOICE NEWSLETTER MARCH 2020 03-2020 THE VILLAGE VOICE Newsletter MARCH 2020 A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR th On Monday, February 10 I had the honor and privilege of st In This Issue bestowing awards upon our employees during our 1 annual Employee Awards ceremony. The award categories ranged from Director’s Message humorous (The MacGyver Award) to the serious (Employee of the Calendar of Events Year) and were intended to be a spin off of the Academy Awards, complete with a red carpet, trophies, and paparazzi. February Birthdays Welcome Message My heart filled with joy every time I called someone’s name and their face lit up with surprise and gratitude. Such a small token St. Patrick’s Day of our appreciation for, and acknowledgement of, their commitment Employee Awards and service seemed to genuinely have a positive impact as evidenced Trivia by their smiles. But the reactions that made my heart truly happy were those of our residents. They were cheering and clapping when I called the names of employees that they knew - a CNA that helped them that morning, a dietary aide that remembered extra creamer, a nurse who comforted them, someone from maintenance who hung a family picture, an activity aide who brought them to bingo. The applause and fanfare from our residents were heartfelt and genuine as they watched our super star staff accept and hold up their trophies. And at that moment I couldn’t determine who was prouder – me, the staff, or our residents.
