The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association Announces the 2011 Communities in Bloom Provincial Winners

On Friday, October 21, 2011, the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) will recognize all 2011 Communities in Bloom Provincial Participants and acknowledge the winners of the Provincial Edition during SPRAts Annual Volunteer Awards Banquet in , Saskatchewan.

The Communities in Bloom program, managed by SPRA with sponsorship from Equinox Industries, strives to increase civic pride through a focus on environmental awareness and preservation of heritage and culture; the program also increases the appeal of 's neighbourhoods and green spaces through the act of conservation, and the imaginative use of flowers, plants and trees.

Participants of the Communities in Bloom program work towards improving their community in regards to the following eight criteria: tidiness, environmental action, community involvement, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscape, floral displays, and turf and groundcovers. The following Provincial Winners excelled in these eight criteria and now have an opportunity to represent Saskatchewan in the National Communities in Bloom program in 2012:
