Introduction The starting point for this family history is that described as Pedigree “C” in Chapter 20 of Audley Pedigrees by A. L. Reade. That document should be read in conjunction with this family history narrative, and Chapter 20 can be found in the ‘Published Information’ section of the Audley Family History Website, under the heading ‘Audley Pedigrees’.

Whilst most of their known family history is spent in Liverpool, Lancashire, this branch of the Audley Family moved from Shotwick in Cheshire to Liverpool in Lancashire around 1800. Four Brothers left Shotwick in Cheshire around 1800 and moved to Liverpool in Lancashire. These four Brothers are the founding members of Audley Families ‘AA’, ‘AB’, ‘AC’ & ‘AD’. The Family ‘A’ narrative contains the information about the family while they were living in Cheshire.

It should be noted that while the family was living in both Shotwick & Neston, Cheshire, their surname was recorded as “Allday”.

{AC1} WILLIAM AUDLEY (aka) ALLDAY, of Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Book Keeper, and latterly a Victualler; Baptised 20th October 1777 (as William Allday) at Shotwick, Cheshire; Died on the 7th May 1833, aged 57. Married on the 20th October 1805, at St. Peter's, Liverpool (License granted from Diocese of Chester dated on the 19th Oct 1805) to ALICE DWERRYHOUSE (a Roman Catholic), dau. of...... Dwerryhouse. The Marriage record indicates that Alice was a minor and consent was given by her Uncle. She was Born in Liverpool about 1785; perhaps had a Beer-house at 26 Parliament Street. In 18341, living as a Widow in Upper Mann Street on 31st March 1851; Died on the 4th April 1851, after 14 days of fever, at 2 Court, Lower Mann St., Liverpool, aged 67. She was Buried on the 8 th April 1851 at St Michael Liverpool. William and Alice Audley had issue,

II. {AC3} THOMAS AUDLEY, born on the 15th May 1808; Baptised on the 15th May 1808, at St. Peter's (R C.), Seel Street, Liverpool; Died on the 20th November 1809 of Measles, in Jordan Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool; and Buried on the 22nd November 1809, at St. James's, Toxteth Park, Liverpool.

III. {AC4} WILLIAM AUDLEY, of Toxteth Park, Liverpool, and later of Birkenhead, a Shipwright, Born on the 4th April 1810; Baptised on the 4th April 1810, at St. Peter's (R.C.), Seel Street, Liverpool Apprenticed on the 19th May 1825, to Jonathan and Roger Fisher, of Liverpool, Shipwrights, for 7 years; served till the 19th August 1827. He then served as Carpenter’s crew on board H.M.S. Revenge, from 2nd August 1827 to 25th October 1830. On his certificate of service he is recorded as William Hadley alias Audley (Prior to William’s service aboard HMS Revenge, the ship participated in the Battle of Trafalgar 21st October 1805) Of, 2, Northumberland Place, Toxteth Park, Liverpool, a Shipwright Journeyman, in 1841. Of Beresford Road, Liverpool. A Shipwright in 1846 (from Baptism of {AC6} Stanley Audley). He died on the 15th February 1857. He Married 1st DIANA JONES dau. of...... Jones, of Liverpool, on the 23rd July 1833, at St. Thomas's, Park Lane, Liverpool. She died without issue on the 9th March 1841, aged 30 years, in Portland Street, Vauxhall Road, Liverpool, of Consumption, aged 30; and was Buried on the 12th March 1841, at St. Michael's, Upper Pitt Street, Liverpool. She was buried in grave No 308 in St Michaels Churchyard having paid £4 for the grave to Liverpool Corporation on 10th March 1841. He Married 2nd. on the 13th March 1842, at St. Thomas's, Park Lane, Liverpool, ELIZABETH HARVEY, Widow of.....Harvey, and Dau of Samuel Ogden, a Hatter; who was born in Caernarvon Wales about 1805/06. She was of 4 Liverpool Buildings, Bebington, Cheshire, in 1861; of 18 Wye Street, a Lodging House Keeper, Tranmere in 1871 and by her, who Died on the 6th February 1884, aged 83, Of senility, at 109 Peel St., Tranmere, Birkenhead, had issue,

1. {AC5} JOHN WILLIAM AUDLEY, born on the 26th March. 1843, at Anne's Terrace, Beresford Road, Toxteth Park; Baptised on the 16th Apr 1843 Saint Peter, Liverpool; of 4, Liverpool Buildings, Bebington, in 1861; Died unmarried in 1864, in Sierra Leone, where he was Buried.
