STANLEY TIME BANK

Time Bank members share time and talents Spend one hour of time helping someone out by, for exam- ple, mowing someone’s lawn, or doing their shopping. For every hour spent, you earn an hour in return. This can be spent on receiving an hour of someone else’s time. You could learn something new or share a skill you have like cooking or playing a musical instrument. Everyone’s time is valued equally; one hour of sharing skills or helping others is recognised by giving that person one hour as a time credit. Time Bank members exchange their time credits when they need something done.

Jean did 1 hour’s Jean then used her Time Peter used his Time ironing for Betty Credit from Betty to get 1 Credit from Jean to get and received 1 Time hour’s help with dog 1 hour’s guitar tuition Credit from Betty walking from Peter from Simon

1 HOUR = 1 TIME CREDIT It’s a flexible way to give and receive help. You can do as much or a little time banking as you like. Since the launch in March 2013 Stanley Time Bank members have clocked up an amazing 6,000 hours helping in the community. There are over 85 Time Bank members. It’s FREE to join Stanley Time Bank. Individual, family, and organisation membership is available. For more information about Stanley Time Bank and the weekly drop-in: E Mail [email protected] or phone Laura on 07712219261.

STANLEY & DISTRICT PUBLIC HALL

There has been considerable upgrading in the past 4/5 years which com- menced with the re-roofing and complete re-decoration and provision of new soft furnishings in the Main Hall. The Electrical installation has also been completely upgraded and in the past 12 months the dated Fire Alarm System replaced. Earlier this year the new external doors were fitted. The continued investment in this long established community facility over this period has made this a more attractive and user friendly Building for our current users and hopefully more groups and individuals will be encouraged to make this a regular venue for Meetings and Activities. Increasing the frequency of usage will allow the Committee to continue to in- vest in improving the building for the Community’s benefit. Like all Groups we are always looking for fresh blood to assist and we would be pleased to hear from anyone in the community who would be interested in joining The Hall Committee or becoming a Hall Trustee. Formed on the 31st August 2016 in the Stanley Bowling Club, who we must thank for the use of the premises for 2 years and 2 months, in which time we had many ups and downs with regard to premises. In that time the core of the shed stuck together, we tried to assemble bits and pieces together but found it a hassle, carrying all tools and wood in having to take it all home again. We formed a Constitution based on the Scottish’ Men s Shed Association and registered as a charity, so hopefully we were moving in the right direc- tion, then on the 1st October 2018 we reached a goal which we had all be waiting for, and moved into the East Lodge, Stanley Mills, our new home. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Keep sup- porting us. Always remember Women talk face to face Men work shoulder to shoulder.

DO YOU USE FUEL OIL TO HEAT YOUR HOME? Read on: If you buy Fuel Oil to heat your home you could by ordering through ‘Development Trusts As- sociation Oil Buying’ scheme obtain favourable rates and for every Litre purchased allow the community to benefit. Every Litre bought through the DTAS scheme will give 0.1p back to the community. For example: If 1000 Litres of Heating Oil costs 34.0ppl (pence per litre) (ex VAT). This means ’you’ will pay £340.00(ex VAT) for this fuel, of this Stanley Development Trust (SDT) will receive a commis- sion of 0.1 p.p.l. ie. in this example £1. Almost every domestic oil buyer in the UK purchases 3000 - 6000 litres of Heating Oil every year. If for example 5000 Litre (a year) oil buyer in your area used our website to purchase all of their fuel, the trust would make £5 every year from that oil buyer. If 10 oil buyers buy 5000 Litre a year the trust would make £50 a year.

A Reminder of the key benefits to the “end user” ·Our service will allow the “end users” to purchase fuel online (or over the phone) · We have negotiated fantastic prices with local deliver part- ners – there are 2 in this area, this means the price that you pay is even better! · If you currently buy fuel in a traditional buying group, using our service means that you do not have to wait until“ the group” want to purchase their oil. You get a group buying price but have the control over your own ordering – a big advantage compared to the larger oil buying group. Local DTAS Rep: David Trevallion. Tel.
