Wine to go NMT
Yeti & Coconut “Hipster Juice” (Doradillo, Zinfandel, Red Semillion and Cabernet Franc) -$50
Dave Geyer and Koen Janssens are the “Yetti and the Kokonut.” These two talented young winemakers have partnered up to produce some camp worthy wines from sustainable vineyards. Yetti manages the vineyards and Koko does the sale side off the business. Together they make the wine. The name Yetti and the Kokonut comes from their nicknames given during vintage. These wines are colorful, curiously flavorful, and much like camping: best with good friends and good vibes. From start to finish we get the thirst quenching cranberry, then threads of dried leaves and lingering notes of tarragon/licorice.
Poderi Cellario “É Rosso” (Barbera, Dolcetto) Langhe, Italy NV - $40
Fausto and Cinzia Cellario are 3rd generation winemakers in the village of Carru` on the western outskirts of the Langhe. The family believes in only working organically with local, indigenous Piemontese grape varieties and fiercely defends local winemaking traditions both in the vineyard work and the cellar practices. Forgot to pack your wine key? No worries, this crown capped, luscious, brambly Liter of red has no need for it! É Rosso is a classic welcoming, wholesome fireside sipper that tastes good straight from the cooler and also surprisingly, warm from being left on the picnic table...
Gönc, “Abduction Rosé” (Žametna Črnina) Ptuj, Slovenia ‘19 -$35
Gönc winery is a family tradition going back to the year 1936 when Peter Gönc’s great grandfather built their first wine cellar and planted the vineyard around it in the small town of Dobrovnik in Slovenia. His grandson Peter now at the Helms produces some of the most prodigious wines of the region.
I’d personally rather forget matches than this rosé. This screw cap, “ancient alien” inspired wine has me making puns like: “take me to your Liter” while star gazing. Simply put this wine is like finding a wondrous batch of wild white raspberries on a hike deep in the wilderness.
