State Football Kentucky State Thorobreds at Sept. 21, 2013 - 4:00 p.m. Rogers Stadium (13,500), Ettrick, Va. Trojans Host Kentucky State in Rogers Stadium Home Opener Home, sweet home.

That’s what Rogers Stadium has been for the Trojans. Beginning in 2000 (13 seasons), Virginia State has posted an overall record of 66-62 (.516). But during that span, the team has a 38-24 (.613) ledger in games played on campus at Rogers Stadium.

In addition, Virginia State has posted a 10-3 mark in games at the facility over the last three seasons. In those 13 games at Rogers Stadium, the Trojans outscored the opposition by an average of 25.2-15.2 showing prowess on both sides of the ball.

The offense is led by a pair of newcomers: quarterback Justin Thorpe and running back Jordan Anderson. The defense has been rock solid with three freshmen in the starting line-up.

After a thrilling last-second 29-28 victory at Fayetteville State to start the season on Sept. 7, the Trojans fell to Benedict, 30-14, last weekend in the New York Urban League Classic at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Following the Kentucky State game, the Trojans host Johnson C. Smith on Sept. 28 in the league opener.
