This book is designed to complement the primary edition of American Radio by providing expanded coverage of the smaller radio markets in the United States and, for the first time, offering coverage of as many Canadian markets as possible. The Small Market Edition will be issued every September. Your support of our work is sincerely appreciated. Please feel free to make comments or suggestions at any time. We urge you to do so. We can be reached at the following addresses: Christine Woodward * James H. Duncan, Jr. WENS Radio Duncan's American Radio, Inc. 1099 N. I urge all of you to read the definition pages carefully. They will help you to understand the various rankings and listings for each market. However, if you have questions please call. I figure that my time and my call back to you are part of the subscription price. Also, I always enjoy talking about American Radio. The methodology is nearly the same as you found in the Spring '85 edition of American Radio. Since 99% of you are also subscribers to the regular edition of American Radio, please refer to that book for more information. One area I might clarify - the diaries line differs slightly from that of other issues of American Radio: Diaries: 279/258/58.61% The first number is the total in -tab diaries. The second number is the number of people (12 +) in the metro for each diary returned. The third number is the percentage of in -tab diaries against the total number of diaries sent into the market. www.americanradiohistory.com LEADING STATIONS IN ARBITRON CONDENSED MARKETS-' STATION MARKET SHARE FORMAT GROUP OWNER 1. CANADA – REGULATORY • On October 28th, 2014, the CRTC released a targeted policy review of the commercial radio sector (Broadcasting Regulatory Policy CRTC 2014-554). Included in this review was a flexible approach for introducing HD Radio technology in Canada, designed to allow for innovation and experimentation. • Licensees are required to apply to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) for experimental authorization and inform the CRTC in writing of any experimentation with HD Radio (or other digital radio technologies) that they undertake, including the type of service they intend to provide. • The CAB is targeting four issues; • Measure penetration and growth through Numeris. • Review ISED/CRC lab measurements. • Consult CRTC re digital policy • Understand future licence fees as an industry.
