Damson Fell Crosthwaite | | LA8 8HT Damson Fell

Built in 1903, Damson Fell was the vicarage to the nearby village church and was lived in as such for almost a century until the present owners purchased this stunning property off the diocese. Named after the plentiful Damson trees that are a part of this delightful corner of the Lake District National Park, the property is set in private grounds of approximately 1.2 acres. Damson Fell is a fine example of Edwardian Lakeland architecture which has been extensively and sympathetically restored and improved to create a wonderful five bedroom family house in one of the most sought after villages in the Southern Lake District. The gardens have also undergone substantial regeneration and improvement with an excellent balance of formal areas, natural woodland, water feature, wide paved terraces for outside entertaining, and the front lawn which in times gone by was the village bowling green.

Many original features have been retained being brought back to life and enhanced with tasteful additions and decoration much of which follows the Arts and Crafts styling of the period. Sitting on the edge of the village, gently raised, the house commands superb views down the Lyth Valley and towards Scar and Fell. This popular village has a vibrant and active community; Crosthwaite itself has a church, successful primary school, highly regarded pub and dining room, village bowling green and tennis courts together with a busy village hall. The location offers privacy and a flavour of rural village life whilst the market town of Kendal is only a short drive as are the busy tourist areas of the central Lakes and access to Junction 36 of the M6.

The house itself is particularly well planned around the central elegant stairwell, with three principal reception rooms enjoying a southerly aspect across the front of the house, four generous bedrooms to the first floor with two bathrooms and a useful attic level.
