SUMMARY

I have spent my career exploring multimedia storytelling, data , and information visualization. I began at ABC News, where I made infographics and launched the comics website ABCNews4Kids. I was ’ first interactive graphics editor, founded its multimedia desk, and worked as the first web enterprise editor, as well as a video journalist. I developed tools for multimedia production, charts, and maps at both The Times and France’s Le Monde. I came to Stanford University as a JSK journalism fellow and produced the widely cited documentary Journalism in the Age of Data. While studying info vis, statistics, and cartography, I began collaborating with academic researchers to explore topics in the humanities and social sciences, which led to a position working between the worlds of research, teaching, and journalism at Stanford’s Bill Lane Center for the American West.
