Following the very successful pilot scheme from April – June 2013 providing excursions/trips for individual passengers, we have been inundated with demand for more trips which you have told us you want to go to. We have listened to your requests and are now delighted to provide you with the list of trips available over the next 3 months. Take a look inside and discover if one of the trips you have asked for has been included. Important Note: There are two additional trips we have been able to include during June (see back page for details of how to register for free & book – and then get booking quickly! Based on our first experience, places will get booked up fast.)

After a meal there is a short stop at Billing Garden Village, a small but interesting place to wander around.

Stay there for a Arboreteum browse and lunch and then on to the Arboretum (option to stay in Lichfield). The Arboretum is 150 acres of trees & memorial gardens – to both military and civilian services. Beautiful and interesting place to walk round. There is a road train that circuits the Arboretum (small cost). Mobility scooters are available (book in advance). Entry to the Arboretum is free. Wed 3rd Navigation Inn, Stoke Bruerne Pub Lunch 12 noon 3.00 pm £7 The Navigation Inn is a large pub situated on the canal at Stoke Bruerne, a popular and picturesque tourist spot. Enjoy a meal and a short wander around, or just sit & relax by the canal. Thurs 4th Oxford Historic City 10.30 am 3.30 pm £13 Popular city, a mix of ancient & modern. Oxford has a number of historic buidings, colleges and museums – try the Pitt Rivers Museum. Indoor and outdoor shopping plus an indoor market. Fri 5th Blooms Garden Centre, Dunchurch Garden Centre 12.00 noon 3.30 pm £6 Popular garden centre near to Dunchurch. Part of the Wyevale group, offering a wide range of goods and plants. Has a large restaurant. Mon 8th Kew Gardens Gardens 9.00 am 3.30 pm £17 Kew covers 325 acres and includes lakes, extensive walkways, themed areas and a number of greenhouses housing a wide array of temperate plants and trees. Mobility scooters available (book in advance). There is a land train (£4 for the day) that stops at various points around Kew. Discounted entry for a group (10 or more) is £13.05 for an adult and £11.25 for over 60s (payable on the day). Tues 9th Morrisons Supermarket, Northampton Shopping 12.00 noon 3.00 pm £6 Morrisons supermarket is a large supermarket that also has a restaurant offering snacks and meals at reasonable prices. Time to shop and take refreshment. Wed 10th Mystery Tour 2 Mystery Tour 10.30 am 5.00 pm £12 Mystery tour (different to the one in May) with regular stop-offs for refreshments, back at browsing and a lunch. Daventry Thurs 11th Elton Hall/ Oundle House & Gardens 10.45 am 5.00 pm £13 Lunch stop in Oundle with time to look around, then on to Elton which is a baronial hall with a Tower dating back to the 15th century and additional parts added from then until the 19th century. The extensive gardens were originally laid out early 1900s and have since had major restoration. The flower garden has been replanted and a new sunken garden, a shrub garden and an arboretum created. There is also a Gothic Orangery and arbour. Adults £9, Seniors £8. Mon 15th Shugborough Hall Stately Home 10.15 am 3.30 pm £12 Earl of Lichfield residence and a National Trust venue. The estate offers a Walled Garden, Georgian Farm, Servants Quarters & Country Museum, Mansion House, Gardens & Mouments. Shuttle bus & land train available Restaurant & Tea Rooms. Lots to see and do. Entry adult £15 (£7.50 if NT member). Mondays only senior citizens (over 60) special rate of £6 (proof of age may be required). Wed 17th Avenue Garden Centre / Garden Centre & 10.30 am 3.00 pm £11 Bicester Avenue is a small avenue of shops (including Lakeland & Hobbycraft) and a large Shopping Wyevale garden centre. Optional visit for those who want to go to Bicester Village (very close by) with it’s large number of top brand designer outlets. Both places have a selection of cafes & restaurants Thurs 18th Leamington Spa Shopping & Gardens 12.00 noon 4.00 pm £7 A town famed for it’s Georgian & Victorian architecture and it’s Gardens. The Gardens are known for their floral displays, beautiful trees and quiet riverbanks. There is also the Royal Pump Rooms. Spend time shopping, and/or visiting the Gardens. Sat 20th Art In Action – Waterperry Gardens, Oxford Art & Craft Show 10.00 am 4.00 pm £12 A unique show where hundreds of artists demonstrate their art - painting, sculting, weaving, sewing, glass blowing and much more. Plus there is a variety of entertainment – singing, dancing & performing. There is also access to Waterperry’s beautiful gardens. A great day for anyone interested in art & craft. Adult £16, Senior Citizens £12. Mon 22nd Milton Keynes Shopping 12.00 noon 4.00 pm £10 Large indoor shopping complex with an extensive range of retail outlets and places to eat & drink. Shops include John Lewis, Debenhams and House of Fraser Tues 23rd Oakham / Barnsdale Gardens / Rutland Water Gardens, Town & 9.45 am Back by £13 First stop is Oakham with opportunity to take lunch and browse. On to Barnsdale Water approx Gardens, originally designed by BBC gardener Geoff Hamilton. Barnsdale has approx 37 5pm themed garden designs contained in an area that is relatively comfortable to walk around. There is also a coffee shop and gift shop. After Barnsdale a short drive round to the southern shore of Rutland Water. A short stop here before heading back. Barnsdale cost is £6.50 for an adult and £5.50 for seniors. Thurs 25th Hunstanton / Sandringham Seaside 9.00 am 5.00 pm £22 Hunstanton is a relatively small but pretty seaside town. Excellent beach, promenade, funfair, bowls, pitch & putt, Sealife sanctuary and the lovely Espanade Gardens. Plus lots of fish & chip shops! Sandringham is the Queens residence in the Norfolk Country Park area. Open to visitors are the House, gardens and museum. First stop Hunstanton and then for those that want to a trip to Sandringham, after allowing time for lunch. Sandringham cost – Adult £12, Seniors £10 Mon 29th Woodlands Garden Centre, Hinckley Garden Centre 12.00 noon 4.00 pm £8 Large popular Garden Centre, part of Wyevale Group, in Stapleton (near Hinckley). There are also a number of outlets including Cotton Trader, Lakeland, Edinburgh Woollen Mill and The Works. Has a large restaurant. Tues 30th Windsor Historic Town 9.30 am 3.00 pm £15 A large historic town with it’s famous Windsor Castle. Situated on the River Thames there is plenty to see and do. Visit the Castle, take a river cruise or bus tour, wander across the river to Eton, relax in the park or just shop! (there is an extensive shopping area close to the coach park.) Wed 31st Calke Abbey, Derbyshire Stately Home 10.15 am 3.30 pm £12 Historic great house in Derbyshire (National Trust) which has remained largely unchanged for most of the 20th century - unique collections, a landscaped park and walled gardens. Described as the ‘unstately home’ to let you see the decline of a country house estate. A fascinating and different place to visit. Restaurant on-site. Entry is £10.68 ( £11.50 with Giftaid)

Sat 10th Shrewsbury Flower Festival Flowers & Historic 10.00 am 5.00 pm £18 A popular summer event in a lovely town. Floral exhibitors from all over the world. Town Flower marquees, show gardens, craft marquees, trade stalls. Plus visitors can enjoy live music, horse-jumping, other arena events and at the end of each day is a magnificent fireworks display. Cost £23, Senior £21. Mon 12th Stratford-Upon-Avon Historic Town 10.00 am 3.30 pm £10 A very popular tourist attraction on the banks of the River Avon. Visitors can enjoy the park area either side of the river, take a river cruise, wander around the shops or visit one or more of the historic attractions such as Shakespeare’s House Tues 13th Dobbies Garden Centre, Atherstone Garden Centre 12.00 noon 4.00 pm £8 Popular garden centre just past Hinckley. A typical large garden centre that also Includes a clothing outlet and food hall. Also has a large restaurant. Wed 14th Nottingham Shopping 10.30 am 3.00 pm £13 Nottingham is thought to be one of the top retail centres in . The centre has extensive shopping in addition to museums, pedestrianised streets and a tram system. Thurs 15th Kelmarsh Hall, nr Market Harborough House & Gardens 12.00 noon 4.30 pm £7 18th century hall and gardens near to Market Harborough. The Great Hall is the centrepiece of the house. There is also the Croome Collection – an exhibition of antique furniture & paintings. Outside there is a sunken garden, long border & walled garden. Cost £7 Adult, £6.50 Seniors. Mon 19th Skegness Seaside 9.00 am 5.00 pm £21 Very popular bustling seaside resort with expansive sandy beaches, funfair, attractions and fish & chips! Tues 20th Greenwich Tourist Attractions 9.00 am 3.00 pm £20 On the banks of the River Thames Greenwich is a World Heritage Site and home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Meridian Line. Famous landmarks include Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory, Sir Christopher Wren’s Old Royal Naval College and the O2 Arena . River cruises operate to the London Eye. Some attractions are free (eg National Maritime Museum) and some have entry fees. Tues 27th Hampton Court Palace Palace & Gardens 9.00 am 3.00 pm £18 Hampton Court is in fact 2 palaces – 1 built by Cardinal Wolsey & later by Henry V111. Alongside is a baroque palace built by William 11 & Mary 11. Overall it is extensive in size & steeped in royal history. Outside are 60 acres of beautifully maintained gardens, plus the famous maze. Entry Cost £17.60 Adult, £14.85 Seniors. Wed 28th Birmingham Shopping 10.00 am 3.30 pm £12 With it’s modern shopping centre and large markets Birmingham is a popular shopping destination. Shop in the glamorous Bullring Centre, stroll up New Street & other shopping streets & visit the indoor & outdoor markets – a shoppers paradise! Hippos, Reptiles, Lemurs, Penguins etc. There are various food outlets, including a restaurant, plus picnic areas for those that want to take their own food. Wed 4th Overstone Manor, Nr Northampton & Beckworth Pub Lunch & 12.00 noon 3.00 pm £8 Overstone Manor is in the countryside close to Sywell. Enjoy a meal there then on to Emporium Emporium Beckworth Emporium (2 miles away) for a short wander round their farm produce & plant nursery. They occupy 10 hectares and as the seasons change, so do the gardens. On limited days during the year the gardens are opened to view & for visitors to talk to the gardening team. Mon 9th Beckworth Emporium / Podington Garden Centre Emporium & Garden 12.00 noon 4.00 pm £9 Close to Sywell Airport is Beckworth Emporium with it’s garden nursery, food hall and Centre popular restaurant. A scenic ride then to Podington Garden Centre , a small independent garden centre with a good selection of plants and gardening equipment/supplies. Tues 10th Moreton-in-Marsh / Bourton-on-the-Water Cotswolds Towns 10.00 am 4.00 pm £13 Visit to 2 very popular Cotswold towns. Market day in Moreton-on-Marsh attracts visitors from far & wide. Have lunch & browse the stalls before moving on to Bourton-on-the- Water. Wed 11th Solihull Shopping 10.30 am 3.30 pm £11 Solihull has it’s modern Touchwood indoor shopping centre plus outside a very pleasant pedestrianised area. It has John Lewis, House of Fraser, Bhs and a host of other retail outlets. Tues 17th Lincoln Historic Town 10.00 am 4.00 pm £15 Historic city world famous for it’s impressive Cathedral and Castle, surrounded by cobbled streets, traditional teashops & craft shops. In addition there are museums, high street shopping & Brayfield Waterfront which has bars & restaurants overlooking the marina. Wed 18th Bletchley Park Historic Buildings 10.30 am 3.00 pm £10 Bletchley park is famous for it’s code breaking activities. You can see where the code breakers worked and how they operated. There are lots of war memorabilia on display plus a Churchill collection, the Victorian Mansion, the story of spymaster Ian Fleming (author of the Bond stories) and much more. Tues 24th Worcester Historic Town & 10.00 am 3.30 pm £13 An ancient city with much to offer. There are 2 main shopping centres plus High Street Shopping specialist shops. There is the river where you can walk or take a cruise. There is the Royal Worcester porcelain factory to look round, and finally the famous Cathedral. All are relatively close together. Wed 25th White Swan Inn, Holcot Pub Lunch 12.00 noon 2.30 pm £7 A trip across the Pitsford Reservoir Causeway to The White Swan Inn at Holcot followed by a ride home via Pitsford and Chapel Brampton. Fri 27th Stamford, Lincolnshire Historic Town & 10.00 am 3.30 pm £13 Stamford is a small Linconshire market town famous for it’s Lincolnshire stone buildings. Shopping It has narrow streets and courtyards with specialist shops & boutiques in addition to the larger High Street shops. Close by is the River Welland where you can walk or just sit. Friday is market day, a busy and popular time. Mon 30th Coventry Shopping 12.00 noon 4.00 pm £6 Coventry has a number of attractions close together, within easy walking distance. There is an extensive shopping area with most major retailers present. There is also Coventry Cathedral and the Coventry Transport Museum. It is much more than a Transport Museum and has something for all ages - recently voted the number 1 tourist attraction in the West Midlands. Entry is free.
